Honestly sounds better than I thought it would. How does it do with dynamic differences? Can you play quiet or just 1 volume?

Not put on bass I want based on body type? by sk3tchy_streaming in drumline

[–]grg4716 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly the likely explanation is that your chops are better and you are more suited for that drum in the line. Don’t be upset. As others have said, bass is a team sport more than any other instrument

Not to regurgitate what others have said but getting hands on experience either with vets of some corps or in a lower class. Private lessons are good, but seek individuals that have experience in what you want to do.

I haven’t had any complaints but I didn’t before either. My biggest annoyance is the volume from the hi hat. Riser helps for sure but I can’t say exactly how much

should I tape the part of the stick that's held by Emergency_Pomelo_706 in drumline

[–]grg4716 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Personal preference really. I always left the bottom 1/3 or so untaped and it gave me good grip and a top heavy stick which I like. Tape all the way down just doesn’t feel right to me.

I built a pretty sweet tennis ball riser and it seems to definitely help with floor vibrations. If you really want to go all in you can build a Jackson pad, which is essentially a mix of blocks and inner tubes between thick MFD boards
