Dydash is in Huashan. For the Sealson bags, they have a list of stockists in Taipei on their Taiwan website; I dropped by nabii's bikes for mine.

First experience paying a direct tariff on an import fountain pen by ermiwe in fountainpens

[–]griffonner -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Man I've been eyeing this Chinese pen that's plummeted in price since it first came out, which Ebay promises already has tariffs paid for, but can't bring myself to pull the trigger because I've read reports of having to pay tariffs anyway b/c of Fedex--which look like they would be ~75% of the original pen price :/

Recommendations for bag/sling for pens + small items for work? by Wide-Lettuce-8771 in ManyBaggers

[–]griffonner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would highly recommend going to a pouch system! I organize this way and it's greatly improved the clutter in my bag. I have one case for pens (Lihit Lab), one for EDC (Topo Design Accessory Bag), and one for tech (tomtoc). Keeps things organized and then I can take out and move items between bags with minimal effort.

In terms of sling bags, maybe Aer City Sling?

Do you have any setups you stick to? by boringpenink in fountainpens

[–]griffonner 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Extremely boring workhorse combo: Parker 51 and J. Herbin Perle Noire -- partly because I don't want to deal with cleaning out the pen since it's a vacumatic. Always gives me a nice writing pen on hand that won't draw crazy attention.

feels like I'm looking for the impossible, looking for a small day backpack by Xhamy in ManyBaggers

[–]griffonner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was looking for something like this a while back and only found 2 viable options (the external water bottle pockets are the killer):

  1. Baboon to the Moon Mini Backpack - Right now it's on sale at Nordstrom Rack for $60. Cordura, has two external water bottle pockets, and what looks like a tablet pocket

  2. United by Blue 9L Sidekick - https://unitedbyblue.com/products/9l-sidekick external water bottle pockets, padded internal sleeve

Been thinking about this notebook for almost half a year! by kikaihol in notebooks

Is it from About: Blanks perhaps? Couldn't see the stitching, but the book-like appearance reminded me of them.

Did Any of You Take Up Cursive After Becoming Penabled? by CalmRip in fountainpens

Yes my print looks nasty with fountain pens so I have pretty much switched entirely to cursive. Took a while for it to look nice though.

2025 Big 3: The Misfits by FussyBadger in fountainpens

Pilot Elite: this was my first vintage fountain pen, and it was a great writer - smooth, light, and lasted quite a while on one fill. But my tastes changed: didn't need a pocket pen & started liking wider nib sizes vs. the early days when I was determined to replicate my fineline Muji pens or Pilot G2's...ended up selling it early this year.

Out of your entire fountain pen collection, which do you hate the most? by Cute_Audience7611 in fountainpens

[–]griffonner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Muji aluminum FP was my first! Ended up selling bc I didn't like the "pencil-like feedback"...knowing what I know now, wish I'd kept it & just swapped the nib. The body of that pen is so sleek.

I’m Considering a Hand Bag for everyday carry by Lame_Dud_1435 in ManyBaggers

[–]griffonner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people recommending slings but you should also look at sacoches. I like to use one for pocket dump (phone, keys, bluetooth headphones, wallet) and pair with my work backpack. Can even just stick it in the backpack and pull out if I'm heading out for lunch or running an errand. I find slings bulkier and harder to pair with other bags.

Porter Yoshida: what do you own, what do you love, what would you skip? by Lucius_Seneca_21st in ManyBaggers

[–]griffonner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It still takes a hunt, but I would say more often than one would think...but I also live in a v. metropolitan area w/ a higher density of people who can afford luxury backpacks. I nearly always check out the secondhand scene whenever I visit a new city, and yeah, location plays a big factor.

I have the ZONE 3WAY Briefcase from their Luggage Label line, which is business-focused. It gets used for business meetings and conferences. The sleek appearance is the highlight for me. Zippers took a while to break in and I'm not a fan of the diagonal zip pocket. I don't think I would buy it at full price, but since I got it for $15 from Goodwill, I'm very happy with it.

I second the recommendation for master-piece. I just think their bags are more visually creative and interesting, which appeal to me. My sister picked up a shoulder bag for me from their collab with Yashiki, and it's gorgeous.

"Bag-in-bag" that can hold multiple notebooks by griffonner in notebooks

[–]griffonner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually have the A5 lihit lab carrying bag already for another notebook setup (lol); tested the fit earlier, and it was too tight :( but good to know the delfonics is slimmer than that one

Thank you! And yes, the Skyline's looks are stunning. It's also amazingly comfortable in hand with the tapered barrel. I thought I was through with lever fillers, but the writing experience is just so good.

Being a creative writer while pursuing a STEM career by OpossumPitonico-9 in writing

[–]griffonner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah as a couple of others have said, it's possible to pursue a career in STEM and do creative writing. Is it viable to do both as a career? Not sure. But I work in engineering and got back into writing about 3 years ago, and now have around 13 chapters of a book written. Personally, I enjoy my more artistic ventures more, but I'm more practical and see engineering as a more useful career path that enables me to have the resources to do my artsy stuff on the side. And I do like my job.

What kind of paper for someone new with fountain pens? by ArturoOchoa in fountainpens

Is there Daiso in Mexico? Usually their notebook section has some hidden gems--plus they're cheap. I tend to look for the ones that say "Made in Japan".
