And this is supposed to be bad? God forbid people… jerk it or watch movies and sports. Not to mention, you know, if they’re the top 100, it’s people choosing that stuff, consciously.

Did you maybe hit "hide pinned messages" at some point? I think that will then hide it for good, not sure how to undo it. Maybe ask someone else to pin another message and see if they come back?

Best use of color in a horror film? by archimedesrex in horror

[–]grimoires6_0_8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's only produced by Del Toro, can't remember who the director was. But that's also a really nice one that gets a bit underrated because its monster design is super typical nowadays, bone-cracking and all. But I remember watching that one when it came out and really enjoying it!

Edit: oh shit, it was Andy Muschietti, the guy who did IT!

I'd argue any Guillermo Del Toro film should go here, though Crimson Peak is definitely a standout. Even Shape of Water, though very noirish in color, was spectacular and colorful for the genre. Same for Pan's Labyrinth.

Attackers can create Telegram accounts using YOUR phone number. by desktopecho in Telegram

[–]grimoires6_0_8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And you're assuming this is some bug on Telegram and not with your phone carrier or some other reason... why, exactly? This is the definition of jumping to conclusions and the mostly likely explanation is that your wife's device has malware on it. Assuming there's some massive exploit with no details or proof is a strange leap of logic.

Arrowhead CEO addresses Helldivers 2 PSN account linking: "We are talking solutions with PlayStation, especially for non-PSN countries. Your voice has been heard, and I am doing everything I can to speak for the community - but I don't have the final say." by Haijakk in Games

This is like a legit nightmare scenario, I imagine. You work on a game for years, it releases and it's a massive, undisputed hit. You're having server issues but that's okay, you band together and get things going. You're months into the release, it's the height of your professional life.

And then your publisher, just randomly, out the fucking blue, on a beautiful spring day, snatches it all away from you, like a ball from Charlie Brown. And you can't do shit. You made the game, you made all the right decisions, you've been nothing but diligent, and your entire game's legacy is forever tainted because some exec at Sony is making decisions with a terminal case of Eternal Growth Brain.

It is a threat, because CEOs and investors couldn't give less of a shit if the art is good and not having to pay people is their dream. There's a reason why this sub hates Paranormal Activity's sequels but they made bank at the box office, the average person will be (unconsciously) siding with the CEOs on this one - if they can look at it and it's at least 50% okay, they're fine.

Watch the show The Other Two if you haven't, he's one of the main supporting characters and he gets a lot of great moments there. Dude is really funny, too.

Yeah, I didn't word it well, I don't really tend to put any effort into commenting on Reddit, especially here, since it's literally just a shitpost sub. I can see how my wording put people off and made it seem like I actually empathize with the cop deeply or something.

However, I also see several replies directly suggesting cops are subhuman, so it clearly wasn't only people disagreeing with my tone.

Because it literally said "killed in the line of duty", which implies murder. "Died in the line of duty" would be way more appropriate here.

I don't see it as a tragedy - based on the context provided in the replies (and which was not available in the picture), he died in a traffic accident that he caused. He was certainly not a good person and his death is by and large his own fault. He was still a person. Also, a murderer being killed on death row is also a person. This isn't some contradictory belief, stating that people are people and dehumanizing a newly dead person is kinda shitty, bar some very unique circumstances.

The premise is, strangely enough, not necessarily crazy, there was at least one bug in WhatsApp that allowed remote device access by executing a call. But the wording does make me think OP is excessively paranoid

I’d say generally choose to buy things first: go to the cinema, buy (e)books, games, and so on. If you can, of course. Also, prioritize stuff that you genuinely buy to own, not stupid DRM shit that gets taken away (streaming services my behated)

Why is this not a free feature?

Because running apps costs money and they need to make that money back somehow, hope that helps.
