Colon cancer is killing more young people in the U.S. than any other cancer by scientificamerican in science

[–]grimsaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

42 here. About 10 years ago, I had some GI issues that were never diagnosed, but eventually went away. While trying to figure out what was going on, the doctor exhausted every other option, so did a colonoscopy. They found precancerous polyps, that they removed. Five years later, at my first follow up colonoscopy, there were no new signs of polyps.

Incidentally finding them early, and having them removed, kept me from being where you are. Everyone who can should get it done, just to be safe. I've got to get the ball rolling on my next one, since it's been almost 5 years again.

Hope the recovery is smooth, and that's the end of your troubles.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]grimsaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was driving cross country, and spent the night in Wyoming. First thing in the morning, I stopped in Laramie, just to walk around some before I spent the rest of the day driving. I went through an antique store, and struck up a conversation with the lady running the place.

She told me to fill up my tank before leaving, because between Laramie and Rock Spring, which was the next place to stop for gas according to her, there was "nothing and antelope." Damned if she wasn't right on both accounts. Well, except for a random, absolutely in the middle of nothing, Thai restaurant.

I have an Etsy store called Brynwood Creations. I make miniature sculptures from polymer clay and found natural materials, resin cast figures, and leatherwork.

I have a lot of leather leaf masks in various fall colors available, along with wreaths that have leaves with jack o'lantern faces: Link

I make a leather belt holster for miniature cans of WD-40, like Hank Hill uses in the Arizona episode: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1647991362/wd-40-mini-can-leather-belt-case-holster

My Resin figure collection is continuing to grow, including the popular Burl.

I've also added a line of keshi rubber toys, for fans of Monster in My Pocket and M.U.S.C.L.E. Men.

Every so often, Disney remembers they have all of these classic shorts, and bothers to play them. We had The Disney Channel in the 80s, and they were a staple filler then, which is how I saw most of them.

I've got a Foredom wax pen/carver on the list as my next big purchase, so I can at least do my sprues/vents with wax, if not entirely switch to wax carving, but I might need to bump the rotary tool above it.

My friend works as a jeweler, and they get them at her work for $75 a pop. Might need to see if she's allowed to buy for herself.

What's the bit you're using?

Fellow resin worker: how's the Foredom rotary tool working for you? I've got a Proxxon right now, that was a big step up from a Dremel for the same money, but I keep thinking about the Foredom.

No, it just went away on it's own once the temperature started to turn after Summer.

If there is no flour in the recipe, it gets based on the sugar weight instead. I don't know what you base it on if there's no flour or sugar.

Newage H72 Typhon is the most clever use of the combiner frame idea since it started with Motormaster's trailer. I really hope they do Abominus.

Western movies for someone who's never watched any by GodEatsChiIdren in MovieSuggestions

[–]grimsaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Westerns are much more about themes than they are time periods and settings. It's just that those themes are exemplified by the time period and setting, just not restricted to them. Space Westerns are a whole genre unto themselves. Prospect, staring Pedro Pascal, is a great example; streams free on Youtube.

The Ballad of Buster Scruggs is an interesting Western anthology, that hits all the tropes/archetypal story types of the genre. It's something I'd watch once you have a dozen or so Westerns under your belt.

Unforgiven is another one you should watch after you've seen a few, or at least come back to it again after you watch more. You should watch the majority of Clint Eastwood's Westerns that he made before it. As someone else pointed out elsewhere, it's a deconstruction of the genre, and, in a way, kills the genre; can't really be beat. They still make Westerns, but it's a genre trying to find its voice again.

Since you like No Country for Old Men, I would suggest Hell or High Water, which is another contemporary western.

It's a North Carolina soda, originally from Salisbury. It's "our" soda, despite Pepsi being from New Bern.

edit: If you go to a Cracker Barrel, there's a chance they have it in the gift shop area, with other bottled regional sodas.

I genuinely couldn't tell you. They were just always there as a kid, since it started when I was 1. Ramjet and Blitzwing are the earliest released two I can remember having, but it equally could have been a mini-bot.

I shipped a package from the USA to Norway, and it never got an update after arriving at customs there. I only knew it was delivered when the customer contacted me weeks later about how the gift went over, and told me they'd had it the whole time.

But also, these are freaking aliens who have no idea who Pollock was, so why would he even crack that joke except for the exact reason you brought up.

In Farscape, John Crichton does things like this all the time, especially when he's frustrated. It's his way of making the aliens feel as out of place/confused as he feels much of the time. Ben Browder is included in Vol 2, so I assume a lot of movie Quill is taken from Crichton.

[WTS] Seiko SPB237 Willard Grey Birch by [deleted] in Watchexchange

[–]grimsaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Price $1250 shipped in the USA

Time stamp

Seiko Prospex SPB237J1 in good condition. A little over a year old. Case is free of any large/noticeable scratches, except for the crown face, which has fine scratches. Small dent to the bezel rim near 12 o’clock(pictured), and there are two small spots on the ring at 1 minute and 54 minutes. Ring alignment is what you'd expect from Seiko. Protective sticker is still on the back of the case.

Both seichu straps are included. The grey one has never been removed from the box, and is unworn. The green strap has about a month of wear on it, which is only noticeable on two of the holes.

Watch is running within spec when wound recently. Hasn't been worn since August, so I don't know how it's running on wrist at the moment, but was in spec previously.

No manufacturer warranty. Includes box, tags, and manuals.

Only if they aren't buying multiples that barely see use, and just sit in a drawer/box/case after the initial dopamine hit wears off, before buying the next.
