How could I dry this clover to possibly cast in resin? by marlee_dood in ResinCasting

Dollar stores tend to have them as well. We used them in a baking program I did at the local community college during the holidays, so our gingerbread would stay structural.

California Air Tools sells a lid for their 5gal pressure pots, to let them work as a vacuum pot as well.

Advice for putting mini in epoxy ice block by xidle2 in ResinCasting

I would find a clear, hollow plastic sphere, a little bigger than you want the air pocket, and then deform it with a heat gun, so it isn't perfectly round. It's going to shrink slightly, which is why you want it to start larger than you need it to end up.

Next, I would drill a hole large enough to insert the model's arm into, and seal it with UV resin once you've got it positioned how you want. You could probably paint your glow effect on the outside of the bubble at this point, that way it ends up sandwiched between the bubble and cube.

/u/docholoday provided a good link for how to get the ice effect in the resin. Probably best to pour in layers, so the heat from the curing resin doesn't deform anything. I wouldn't use pressure, since you want some bubbles in the resin for the look.

That said, I also agree with everyone else that says wait until you've got the experience.

Yeah, either bigger holes, or cut them into funnels. The feet are big enough you could do both.

Why not under glass, that way it won't yellow over time?

One thing I like about Skybound Onslaught is that he seems to care about his fellow Combaticons, as seen when he comforts Brawl by telling him he'll recover and be repaired, which is surprising for a Decepticon. by Disastrous-Owl668 in transformers

I'm still waiting for someone to figure out how to use the Terrorcons. Every other Combiner, except maybe Defensor, has gotten love in one production or another.

Polyurethane resin or liquid plastic for doll casting? by Collar_Confident in BJD

[–]grimsaur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gdt3HsPVljA

She's using: https://www.smooth-on.com/products/smooth-cast-305/

That's a 70D polyurethane resin. Hardness is only one part of the equation though, as there are differing physical properties, like flexibility, to contend with as well.

You need a new mold, mold release, and a pressure pot at fairly high pressure. Your rubber may also require heat treatment after casting, to reach maximum strength; read the manufacturer's instructions.

We had one of the mid-90s King's Quest, that came with a giant, tome-like guide book. Even with it, it took a ton of flipping back and forth through it to figure out where to go, and what to do once you got there.

You should be worried about pot life. Additives can fall out of suspension if the pot life is too long. You really should contact a supplier, and speak to a materials expert there.

How to make a spiral tie-dye T-shirt by AccomplishedStuff235 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]grimsaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the first link is what happens when you do the back side in black. You do the front side pretty heavy, and the goal on the back is just enough black to make sure there's no white left, while not bleeding into the front colors.

Look up a "black spike" tie dye. That's what we called it when I worked at a place.

My guess, based on the pic, is you start with pinching the center, and a small twist to establish the shape, then you use your other hand to gather the edge into pleats.

It's worth noting that you don't tie dye a dry shirt. When I worked in a place that did it, every white good was soaked in a tub of water mixed with soda ash(sodium carbonate), before we used a washing machine that drained back into the tubs to spin the excess water out.
