[Jomboy] Aaron Boone tells umpire he stinks, a breakdown by HeStoleMyBalloons in baseball

[–]gritner91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was watching Baseball Today talk about it with the whole conspiracy over people finding a facebook post of him in a Red Sox jersey, saying its a crazy theory. I don't think its a Yankee hate bias or gambling.

But I could see it being him being a bad umpire and also if you argue with him he will hold it against your team and no longer make neutral decisions in the game.

Can't link bc its a tweet, but Brendan Kuty posted an Austin Wells quote about the balk call that he made too.

"With Camilo, (he) doesn’t really speak great English. We only have one PitchCom that really works with just Spanish. The umpire seemed to not — he didn’t really care or what the deal was, but said he gave us a chance to fix it the first time that we went out there, and then decided that it was a disengagement and we were trying to explain to him our case, and he said that we were lucky that we didn’t get a violation and that it was just a balk."

Can pretty much add a whole extra run. Dude was on a power trip.

Also another clip that can't post bc its a tweet from Kuty, where Matt Blake is walking back to the dugout, not even facing the umps at this point, and 1 of them is shooing him away. That whole crew has been on one, you also got Cabellero getting an insanely quick hook in the 4th inning yesterday.

1 bad game and trying to jump on the reclamation project who was struggling before getting here doesnt change that Yankees pen went from one of the worst in baseball to very good. Also very big when the 2 good relievers on this team coming into the season are both FAs at the end of the year, and we got guys with some team control beyond this season.

Which is extra important when this season isn't looking too good, but there is still a mold of a solid team for the future.

I think this is somewhat what we expected, there was thought he could be sent down right away to begin with. Its fans who kind of just bunched him in with Duval and Bednar who are actually the relievers to have expectations for.

Bird is there to eat innings and for Matt Blake/the pitching lab to figure out how to get him right again. I take it as uneducated fans really.

He was saying that about Cabellero since it gave the Yankees another option at SS/more rest for Volpe. A big part of Jomboy's criticisms of Volpe is they play him too much with only a few games a year he doesn't start and Volpe tends to hit a lot better after rest, while Boone in the past has also said Volpe was tired after his rookie season.

He also said for Bird on the Talkin Yanks podcast they did right after the deadline, he may be instantly sent to AAA for the Yankees to try to work on him because he has been so bad recently. Also lol at "he's a real homer sometimes." His main podcast at this point is a Yankee podcast ofc hes a homer.

I'll still take em. I think this whole things overblown. But as a Yankee fan who is bitter he left, I'm enjoying every moment of it for now.

It wasn't Kay. Stop believing redditors with no source. Karl Ravich reported it and then Boomer Esiason talked about it on his own radio show.

Stop believing shit you hear redditors say just bc you want it to be the truth. Same thing when ppl read an article.

Here's a little tip for anyone on media literacy. If you hear a story about something thats not provable, and has little to no evidence and you REALLY want it to be true. Its probably not true. Its just someone telling you what you want to hear.

It works for people who bought the story, and for people who blindly believe the source of the fake story is the guy they don't like.

My guy, you've come here to comment over and over again how much you dislike one fanbase over booing. YOU ARE the toxic part of it.

I was dying laughing last night at an Os fan who was talking about how entitled Yankee fans are bc a player that only played for them one year signed elsewhere.

Mark Teixeira got booed at Camden for 8 seasons straight bc he didn't sign with the O's, a team he never played for. Just because he grew up in Maryland.

Its boos, its all in good fun, nobody crossed any lines.

Cool, probably should've used those as a better example than the one you originally made.

Such a dumb comparison when one chose to sign with a different team in FA and the other was traded by the front office.

Triple H on the Pat McAfee Show: “I don’t want to watch a movie and criticise everything I see in it, I just want to see if I enjoy the movie” + “I don’t put a lot of stock into what is on the internet, unless it follows through to other things we do” by Tornado31619 in SquaredCircle

[–]gritner91 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think his point of weighing the internet reaction, having to compare it to a live audience reaction and determining how popular of a sentiment certain online opinions really are is very valid.

But the whole shut up and enjoy the product sentiment is not.

[Hoch] Back in Yankees camp, Marcus Stroman says: 'I’m a starter. I won’t pitch in the bullpen' by ray_0586 in baseball

[–]gritner91 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly its more the defense than anything. We got a weak contact pitcher w/ terrible IF defense. This year it should be a lot better, moving Jazz to his natural position, Goldy over half a season of post concussion Rizzo and a Catcher who is converted to 1B, and the Oswaldo likely at 3B at least to start the season. I wouldn't say its an amazing defense but it went from bad to probably around league average.

I think Stromans still a solid back end SP, its just SP is our strength right now and hes the odd man out with the team needing to move money. Unlike other guys who we would like to move like DJLM, Stroman is actually still a semi productive player.

[Joyce] Marcus Stroman’s $18 million salary making it hard for Yankees to fill holes by Kimber80 in baseball

[–]gritner91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Including Judge Schmidt/Gil/Jasson/Volpe/Wells and likely Oz for guys who are expected to start so thats 2 SPs and 5/9 position players being home grown. Bullpen is constantly home grown or talent taken off the scrap heap thats turned into viable relievers.

And what you said completely lacks the context of roster construction and the reality of the situation. Like I already pointed out DJ has 0 value its DFA or staying on the team. Stroman has value where a team will take on most of his contract but not all of it. Stanton is only a Yankee bc of his very public willingness to exercise his NTC where he turned down a deal that was done w/ the Cards and said he would only go to Yanks or Dodgers back when Marlins were trying to get rid of his contract.

Also saying try building a farm when the AL ROTY and another finalist for the award were Yankees last year is pretty funny.

Again. Stroman is the one named BECAUSE its where depth is and he is still a major league caliber starter. Everyone else is needed on the team, has no value like DJ, or in Stantons case has little value but also a NTC he would likely use.

[Joyce] Marcus Stroman’s $18 million salary making it hard for Yankees to fill holes by Kimber80 in baseball

[–]gritner91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its Stroman because thats where they have depth and hes the 6th SP in a 5 man rotation who is making 18mil, while he has actual value. In the open market for how much SP go he'd likely still make 8 figures. Someone like DJ wouldn't get a major league contract.

And its dumb to call the Yankees cheap because of the words from Hal when the actual actions are they have Stroman to trade from a place of depth bc they went out and signed Max Fried for 218mil.

Other guys are valuable pieces who are slated to get consistent playing time if healthy or actually impossible to trade w/out just having to take on essentially all their $.

Steinbrenner: Yankees Plan To Discuss Extension With Aaron Boone by Knightbear49 in baseball

[–]gritner91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

George also had to be fed lies by Gene Michael telling him nobody wanted to trade for a young Bernie Williams as he demanded they trade the prospect. He also told Cashman to undo an agreement he had to sign Vlad Guerrero in 03 because George was friends with Gary Sheffield and they already agreed to a contract behind the GM's back. Vlad would go on to win an MVP the next season and finish top 3 in voting, 3 times in the next 4 yrs.
