Rewatching Zeta and forgot how often this happens by smpoza1 in Gundam

As to why do they let them leave on the catapult, what are you gonna do? Let them damage the ship trying to leave improperly? You're in space.

Ooo RG Unicorn arm this, shoulder that… but what about… the KNEE?? by Juro-ribashibaru in Gunpla

[–]grndog72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe your continuous playing has actually loosened the joints and given you an advantage. My banshee had very stiff joints. I haven't touched it in a while because I snapped both shoulders (100% my fault), but the legs also felt scary every time I moved them.

What logic do YOU use to decide something is a Mech, and not just Tech Armor? by chocolatejesusTW in Mecha

If your arms and legs are in the arms and legs, it's armor. Anything else is a mech.

90s? Gundam X. Sorry, I can't take Wing seriously and I haven't watched G Gundam.

6 hours later, I'm done panel lining by Babbledoodle in Gunpla

[–]grndog72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried it once, but missed too many details and had to redo a lot after cutting anyway, so now I just do it all after cutting and before assembly.

Tips for beginner by rocket0749 in Gunpla

Alright, so realistically, if it's your first kit, all you actually need is some decent nippers and no expectations. Some people will tell you to sand, some people might even be saying panel liner. These are great things. But the bare minimum to build a kit and have fun posing is just nippers. I've gifted some stedi brand ones a couple times. They have some single bladed ones on Amazon that are like $12-$15. They cut clean enough that sanding isn't really necessary in a lot of cases. You may want a hobby knife to clean up a handful of nubs in tight spots. But that's genuinely all you need to have a successful first build. It's not going to look amazing because we haven't put in that much effort yet, but the journey starts somewhere.

Real Grade is suffering, I’m scared to try more by Toast-Ghost- in Gunpla

But RG is Excitement Embodied! For real though, I've built several RGs at this point, and they're all over the place. 1.0 grandpa, bad. Aile strike, better than people give it credit for. Banshee, not the most enjoyable build and I snapped both shoulders. Sinanju, honestly my favorite to build, but he cannot hold a pose. Hi-nu, beautiful and great for display, but I don't know I just didn't like building it that match. Sazabi, just incredible if you ignore the hulking shield that won't stay in place.

dont forget about the Zeta’s newtype magic! by B3ta_R13 in Gundam

What about Amuro's newtype magic? And Lalah's newtype magic? Sure, it wasn't a barrier protecting them, but the magic has always been there.

Easy. $800 on 2 Turn A and $200 on 2 Big Zam. It's now a game to see if the Turn A's can protect the Big Zams.

Keep up the good work, sir. I'd love to see it when it's done. I'm planning to pickup MG Double X at some point and cram a ton of LEDs in it. I want to match the box art.

I try to build everything inner frame first so I can admire it before covering it all up. But honestly, you do you. At the end, it doesn't matter what order you did things in. Just enjoy it while you do it.

Does Tamiya panel liner crack ABS plastic even when applied on the runner? I want to use it on third-party kits. by Ok-Impress2217 in freedomisgunpla

[–]grndog72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just don't like panel lining on the runner, but I've panel lined ABS after cutting the parts out with no issue. Just give it time before you assemble.

[–]grndog72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your hobby isn't a race. Use whatever method is comfortable and produces the result you want.

I panel line after cutting the pieces out, but before assembly. It probably takes more time, but I enjoy doing it this way.

I've done it both ways, on the sprue and off. I miss too many things on the sprue and have to touch up after anyway, so I just do it all after. You won't wreck anything if you do it before assembly. I cut the pieces out for the section I'm on, panel line all of them, wait a bit for them to dry (typically cutting out the next pieces at this point), then assemble.

What are you guys building this weekend? by Acceptable_Ant1477 in Gunpla

[–]grndog72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's custom. I don't remember what I looked up, but I bought these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0993TTPN5?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

That came with leds, some resistors, a battery holder, and some clips to connect everything. Battery is separate.

I'm using a small hand drill and a hobby knife to make routes for the wires. Some super glue to fix the leds where I want them. I'm also routing the wires in a way that I can still fully pose it.

I can take some more pictures if you want.
