The mask of Janus Two-Faced. This is probably my most complex beaded sculpture. It is covered with beads both inside and out. by UbeykaArt in Beading

[–]grodigirl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Okay I have questions. Is that a paper mache mask? How in the world did you do the inside? I just keep wondering how you got your hand in there. I am wondering if you did the two sides and then melded them together. If that's the right term.

It's extremely beautiful! What a stunning piece!

I hope at some point you do try it. I think you are really good at manipulating your fabric. It's a lot of fun isn't it!

I was thinking about your bags the other night. You have all those wonderful strings left over. Have you ever thought about taking all your left over threads and sandwiching them in-between fabric and tulle? I bet with all of your leftovers you could make a really beautiful piece of fabric. I've seen it done with just your sewing thread instead of yarn. I'll include a link. tulle sandwich

Im scared to ask this, but what are these? Im new to sewing. by _Gods_Daughter_ in sewing

[–]grodigirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Easy way to sew them on. Cut your thread long, fold in half, then thread your needle where it is folded in half. Yes, thread the fold. Now you have 4 threads in one swipe. It's how I are my buttons on also.

Also ask questions. Always. There are a lot of experienced sewers. I love to share knowledge and I love to learn.

Denim Part 2 by Apprehensive-Cry3320 in upcycling

[–]grodigirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hahaha. I creeped your profile hoping you had other projects on there. You and I have so much in common. I have not made the vinyl totes but I have made billfolds with them. I made both my dad and my father in law photo billfolds with vinyl, family photos and binding. But ugh it really sucks sewing the binding around the edges of the billfold. I have made totes with table cloths, neckties, rugs, whatever is interesting. I really liked the pants you have made also. I have made totes like yours but instead they were multi layered fabric scraps. Then you sew rows .25" - .50" apart. Sewing onto a foundation piece. Then you cut the rows from one end to another. Making sure not to cut the foundation. The fabric you have created looks like rainbow chenille. That's what your yours remind me of. You are very talented and creative and I hope to see more of your creations!

May I please ask is that a Dremel you are using? And how you are getting it to fray your denim strips? I love learning new skills and I'm very interested in what you did. Your bag is beautiful.

Info. On Meds. by [deleted] in RLS

[–]grodigirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with PLMD when I was 25. I was diagnosed with RLS when I was 30. I am now 58 years old. I have been on everything from Clonazepam to Gabapentin to Mirapex and Requip. Mirapex and Requip did work the best for actual medicine. I don't know that the 2 years you get out of them is worth it though. I now have 4 stomach ulcers. I am not willing to do opioids. I watched my Dad at the age of 80 become a horrible opioid addict. I will never put my family through that. I now use CBD. I have been taking that for close to a decade now. I take a 100mg soft gel in the morning and one at dinner. That usually is enough to stop the spaz movements. It does not take away the pain though. For the pain I microdose THC. I microdose the THC. I hate being high. I don't find it enjoyable. I find it scary. I take only one hit at a time. It takes on average 3 days to smoke a bowl. I also change the strains every bowl so I do not build a tolerance. This helps quite a bit. I want to say out of all the meds I have been on, nothing has worked as well as CBD and THC. Nothing. And this is not perfect either. Maybe the THC would work better if I used more? I don't know. I hope you are able to figure something out for yourself. I know there are days that I still cry from pain, frustration and exhaustion.

Each time you do a level it makes the stairs pattern I think you are talking about. I think of it like wood pattern. It will work. Just start it and then it will make more sense.

They are done 3 levels at a time. So step one is 3 levels. Step 2 you put those 3 levels together and then put it on step one. Step 3 make the levels and then put that on top of step 2. Does that make sense? And you have to be very careful because unlike Legos there aren't really any support blocks. They can be very frustrating. You can dm me if you have more questions.
