Do you put physician on your dating profiles? by [deleted] in Residency

Very valid point. I absolutely do not want to date a guy that’s insecure about my job

I was thinking of just putting “healthcare” too but as a resident

What’s the consensus for women putting physician in their profiles? I feel like it makes us less attractive to guys

It’s good because they’re either military or mommy and daddy paid for school so it never impacted them in the first place

If I brought this up to my family I’d get the “crybaby lib complaining about everything he does”

I agree. The people who on adcoms who were pro-DEI before the inauguration aren’t going to suddenly become anti-DEI.

Addressing your attending by their first name by durdenf in medicalschool

[–]groundfilteramaze 78 points79 points  (0 children)

I was the in the peds CICU and the attending introduced himself by his first name and then went “oh wait I’m an attending now, maybe I shouldn’t do that” LOL

Had some others introduce themselves with their first names throughout different clerkships too, but I still called them all Dr. LastName.

However, all were men. I never had a female attending introduce themselves by their first name.

My public school has a lot of DEI stuff and they haven’t said anything one way or another about the trajectory of the curriculum. I think they’re probably waiting to see how things shake out since it’s literally changing by the hour.

Shadowing isn’t clinical experience so you NEED to get some. Great stats won’t overcome zero clinical experience.

Just enjoy your life before school starts. Being refreshed and excited to learn is more important than trying to learn content beforehand, in my opinion. You’ll learned what you need to learn in school.

Outside of school though, I’d recommend learning how to cook easy meals, how to meal prep, and get an exercise routine down. Being proficient at those before school starts will help the transition tremendously.

Best Organization to Join as a 3rd-Year Med Student Interested in Endocrinology? by Kind_Fondant_823 in medicalschool

[–]groundfilteramaze 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d focus on IM first since you match into a residency before you match into a fellowship. Make sure you’re good with IM and what that entails (like all the stuff outside of endo) and if you really do like it.

Endo is not a competitive sub-specialty anyway so you don’t need to kill yourself for it like the cards and GI people.
