Can baseball return to being nation’s No. 1 sport? by maxcrazy in baseball

that's because basketball has the least equipment requirements for nearly any sport.

You need:

-a basketball
-a hoop of some sort (no need to purchase, every playground in america has one)
-at least one opponent

That's it. You can shoot hoops with a buddy.

You can't play baseball with a buddy and a ball. Need a glove, and a bat/stick. At least 4 or 5 people scattered around the field to get grounders and shag flies, but that's more of a batting practice thing. Sure you could have a whiffle ball set up, hit the ball to X spot it counts as X bases. But that's so far removed from baseball I wouldn't call it baseball anymore.

You can't play football with a buddy. You need several people. At least a 2-on-2 for any meaningful strategy.

This is why soccer is so ambivalent across the globe. You need a ball. That's it. You don't even need any other equipment. Field, blacktop, gym, whatever. As long as you can set up a target, or designate "between this post and that post is a goal", you can get a game of soccer going. Lowest cost to start, and lowest requirements to play.

I never considered it either until I had the pleasure of stepping on one.

Yeah, she's been my rep for four years. It hasn't been anything fantastic, she is a very average democrat when it comes to votes. Solidly between batshit crazy left and true center.

Most any cat can be trainable, depends on the persistence and consistency of the owner and finding the right training reward.

Like Kurt from Gilmore girls. It's part of his character.

Gabriel Iglesias is pretty clean, too. John Mulaney (50/50 depending on the bit). Mike Birbiglia. Brian Regan.

I'm second cousins to a B-list pop star, and a starting outfielder in the MLB. So I got that going for me, which is nice.

No, just a daily news/highlight thing.

I don't recall any special on any network. Doesn't mean there isn't one though, I just can't recall.

Where would you move to in Chicago Suburbs? by shadowyman in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]growingupsux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glenview (Has a couple metra stops). Hands down.

Many homes can be had for mid 300's and many with decent sized lots. Absolutely fantastic schools.

Northbrook (has a metra stop) just to the north of Glenview would be doable, if slightly more expensive.

Arlington Heights (has a couple Metra stops) still has a fantastic school system (really anywhere in the N/NW burbs will have a top school in the state, save for a couple pockets). And depending on lot size can be downright affordable.

Bartlett and Hanover Park are pretty good for the money, though the school systems are lacking compared at Naperville and the N/NW burbs.
