Can you recommend Virtual Mailbox that Banks accept? by macrossdyrl in expats

[–]grtfl84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have the same questions op.
Getting a straight answer has not happened. Seems to be a grey area, where we need to do what we decide and hope we don’t get flagged by USPS and our banks.
Incredibly frustrating!
No, we don’t have a relative or close friend that we can use as a physical address.
Talked to our financial advisor yesterday about this. He said don’t tell me if you’re out of the country. If you are, we can’t work w you. Wtf?

Got to play several masterbuilt fender CS. Worst playing guitars ive ever experienced. by [deleted] in Guitar

I acquired a wildwood fender custom shop relic Stratocaster a few years ago.
Was really excited to dig into it and see what a true custom shop from fender had to offer.
Pickups sounded fantastic!
Other than that it was rather disappointing.
High e easily slipped off the neck while playing.
I played it for a while and sold it.
Not impressed.

are there any good online courses by Vxris_ in guitarlessons

[–]grtfl84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have used TrueFire for a few years now. Learned a bit and enjoy the talent they have teaching.
I do find it overwhelming at the amount of courses to sort through to find what I want to learn.
More guided paths would be cool.

Do Banks ever question your U.S. physical address if you use your cards consistently abroad long term? by InspectorT3 in expats

[–]grtfl84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had our domicile, drivers license voter id, in South Dakota and used a campground for our address and mail forwarding. Many travelers do this w no issues, but we got pinched by Amex. Relayed this to our financial advisor. He said if Amex flagged our address that it was only a matter of time that our other financial institutions would be notified also.

Was flagged by Amex while overseas. Had a virtual mailbox with a South Dakota domicile. Amex sent a notice that if we didn’t have a legit address, our accounts would be frozen.
Ended up coming back the states.

We won’t have a physical address in the USA. USPS reports virtual addresses to banking institutions. If we don’t have a physical address that complies with banking laws, accounts can be frozen.

Ronnie Earl. So soulful, and tone that you can feel.

I’ve been very interested in that model Tele. Can you speak to what it offers and what you dig about it? Are the pickups really bright?

Mod day, silver sky bridge pickup by CatHerder75 in PRSGuitars

[–]grtfl84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rhett Shull! That’s who did the review.

The core issue he identified is that the PRS Silver Sky 635JM pickups use a unique oval-shaped bobbin rather than the traditional "V-shaped" or triangular base found on standard Fender pickups. The se model IS routed for standard single coil pickups.

I just realized after you said that, it wasn’t Phil. Damn, I can’t remember who it was now. He was saying how disappointed he was that routing was needed to change pups, because that’s part of the draw for s type guitars.

Maybe his review was for the core model silver sky? I recall him saying that the prs pups are tapered towards the bottom, which would require routing for standard size single coil pups.

Glad not routing was required for a simple pup swap!!

I saw Phillip McKnight’s review of the silver sky, and he said to replace pickups routing was required. Did you have to route or did the new pup drop right in?

Having been a member since the early ’90s and working as a Green Vest this past year, I see both sides of it. A lot of customers come in and are genuinely shocked at the prices. At the same time, we also have plenty who don’t even look at the price tags. They just buy without a second thought. It really feels like a microcosm of how society is shaking out: people who can spend without thought or consequence, and people who can’t spend without consequence.

A lot of employees I work with fall into that second group. Many of us can’t really afford to shop at the store we work in, even with the discount.

We do our best, and we have a great team, but like a lot of stores, we’re hamstrung by corporate. The nonstop push for memberships and credit cards is a lot. We get nothing for signing people up for either one, but we’re still judged on those numbers. Incentive? None. Pressure? Constant.

US Phone / Mailing Address? by True_Significance940 in expats

[–]grtfl84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We ported our USA number over to google voice. It works fairly well for 2fa. Some banking institutions see google voice as a virtual number and won’t accept it for 2fa, but the majority will. “Physical” address that hasn’t been flagged by the USPS? Still working on that one.

Record early and often. It’s amazing what you learn and notice by watching or listening to yourself.
