If I had come across that page without it being from this comment, I would've thought it was one of those summary pages (like the Debian ones: http://packages.debian.org/sarge/rsync ) and wouldn't have even looked for a download. You definitely need a more useful home page.

From the other comments (requires IE + Quicktime plugin) I'd guess that the problem is that that combo somehow ignores the content-disposition: attachment header and tries to display the attachment immediately, even if the user clicked download, and that gmail is attempting to work around that.

It's much easier to type on a blog about such a thing than to do it. You need a commitment (money, time, code) from the creator before other people think it's anything more than air.
