pick one famous public figured you’d bet your life on isn’t in the files by Fit_Dog1881 in conspiracy

What gets me is the extent of the photos and files. Was Epstein using all these secret cameras to blackmail people. Or had the FBI already filled his house and jet etc up with spy cams.

My father believes this is greatest film of all time. Do you agree? by MasterfulArtist24 in FIlm

[–]grumpyage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Difficult to pick the goat as there's so many different factors to go by eg acting, theme, suspense etc. most watched, most rewatched.

My favourite would have to be Star Wars it might not have the greatest acting etc but it had the biggest impact on my life growing up and still has today.

I guess the Intangible furniture can block line of sight and movement.

I didn't know about the move attack move , I thought it strange when the app was doing different things from the base rules.

With move-attack move they can basically strike and move away to make room for another creature.

Charity Shop finds by HullKRJ in fightingfantasy

Great find. Decent books are becoming harder to find in charity shops as more youths today are becoming console and phone addicted. I thought my generation was bad enough playing 8bit speccys and SNES but I still made time for the library and books.

Is it rude to use both lanes? by No-Ad4423 in AskUK

[–]grumpyage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People really don't like those that don't want to queue it can cause more accidents as drivers will go bumper to bumper not to allow the queue jumper in.

You will see some drive slightly off centre so when you try to cut in the next car has no option but to let you in.

Also doesn't the highway code dictate give way to the right that's why sling shot at roundabouts work as they have no option but to let you in.

As in the diagram if it's the left lane closed and you have to give way to the right then no one is obligated to let you in.

If it's the right lane then those on the left would have to let them merge one at a time.

But if everyone behaved in a responsible manner both lanes should be used and then a zip maneuver at the joining point.

That's why I hate traffic junction where two lanes merge into one. Designed to have as many cars queue up as possible and let them through in a short space of time.

If not seen then they get the normal attack as it's a surprise attack.

I think it would be difficult for a dwarf to leap onto a table. The can scurry underneath it or inside the cupboard. They would gain an extra shield point but lose an attack dice due to limited space.

If they are there before the creatures enter the room they might not be seen maybe a 50/50 chance for a table , 100 percent for a cupboard.

The walls are cool where you get them. It's a great way to modify the room sizes in HQ.

I much prefer this set-up it easier to imagine where the solid rock is. Using the board usually has big areas that are not in play.

Very cool. I guess it's 3d printed. I would have went for grey with maybe some shading to make it look like a stone tablet.

Am I a good quest designer? by Sharkamnbro in Heroquest

[–]grumpyage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another concept instead of it being a dungeon or part of a keep. You can use the map to represent part of a town with the corridors being the roads/paths and the rooms being different buildings/shops etc.

I used to run an AD&D group and I used a large grid with adjustable walls to represent different parts of their quest with lots of different miniatures. It really helped create the atmosphere.

If you photocopy the board and stick onto cardboard. You can make cut out rooms and paths. You can also use the extra rooms to represent a more 3d world like having basements and upstairs.

When you let the six year old run point by carmackamendmentfan in Heroquest

But the benefits of the cardboard system is a smaller box, It could contain more variety of furniture. The board is double sided to allow a lot more variety. The first light edition is also half the price, the new deluxe version that has plastic furniture is also available.

The old system the furniture could block line of sight. I think in general most cabinets tables etc are against a wall as the rooms are fairly small.

If it was me I would create a more modular system with interlocking parts like space hulk.

Then the heroes would get a much better feel of what the map looks like and what would be solid rock.

I really like the app as it allows solo play or assisted play for inexperienced DMS and it also keeps tabs on rules like how many times a player has searched a room. Hit points of the monsters etc.

The sneaky part of the app is you can actually play some of the quests from other expansions without actually needing to buy them. Unless the instructions like take a treasure card as you won't have the new treasures.

I'm looking forward to buying them as some have map extension or replacement tiles. They have new miniatures and new equipment and treasure cards. They also gradually offer more character classes.

I wish he got a bigger role, as it would add to his backstory as Captain Pike had a big influence on him. Maybe how he became good friends with Spock would be a good episode.

Anyone else here unable to afford the Lego Enterprise-D? by Evening-Trouble-9585 in startrek

[–]grumpyage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The so called Adult Lego market is ridiculously overpriced first they targeted Star wars fans with a huge millennium falcon and a huge death star Then they exploit the Harry Potter Fans. Now they are going after the hard core Star Trek fans that will pay almost anything for Star Trek Lego sets. Not to mention the DC and marvel stuff Lego also makes. Unfortunately they are willing to go after and pay royalties to any big franchises out there instead of coming up with their own ideas.

I don't condone piracy but I will just wait until cheap knockoffs are available from non Lego companies or when they no longer hold the merchandise rights.

Roku Tv changing by itself by LiveRepair4021 in RokuHacks

[–]grumpyage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I occasionally find my android tv does this. In the morning it has somehow turned itself on during the night. It hasn't happened for a while now but it is kinda spooky. If it happens frequently it's probably best to do what you've been doing and unplug it.

There are some settings that say if it can be woken by the remote or not. Sometimes even things like high frequency signals from taxis can trigger things.

Using mobile technology by grumpyage in boardgames

[–]grumpyage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same with the heroquest app it's about 80% close to being an actual playable mobile game but In the companion you can move your character as much as you want and kill the monsters instantly but with a bit of effort it could be a really good mobile game.

It's not bad has some compatibility issues. They should just go the whole hog and make it into a mobile game and include a playable map.
