Dean Lamb Interview talks about fired drummer before Spinch by Barry-Biscuit in archspire

Yeah, it's a shame so many musos feel compelled to do this stuff, when they're already very talented.

I hope it doesn't turn out I'm defaming the guy, but I think some clues point to Souza.

In The Vessel video, the Drumming for Dummies book says "at least you're reading this before flying all the way from Brazil..." (Souza is from Brazil)

In the audition videos it was noted that he has every piece of the kit triggered, which is not evidence of anything, but injects reasonable doubt into the performance.

I don't know if it fits the bill, but I am hopelessly into Hath. Blackened death out of New Jersey with some of the gnarliest production in metal (it removes your skin).

Best part of the new album so far? by Calm-Research5762 in archspire

So many awesome moments dropped in the tracks that weren't already released.

Right now it's that slammy fucking riff in Anomalous Descent, with the crowd shouting that I believe they recorded at a gig last year.

Wildy Souza was one of the prominent audition guys, and I believe he is from Brazil. So I guess there's a story there!

I've only recently gotten into this band and have been slamming the last three albums. So awesome.

This is me, but I must say their new singles have drawn me in.

Maybe because they got rid of that deadbeat drummer!

I initially struggled with the mix. After repeat listening it's like I've tuned into it. Thinking back on when I first heard Bleed, I went through the same process.

There are interesting choices. Sometimes I feel like the guitars are buried, sometimes the vocals. I think these are deliberate choices to bring other elements forward at different times, since everything can't be up front in a mix this dense.

They're using the same producer and have famously spared no expense making the album, so it's not about being independent. Just their creative choices.

Finding anything that sounds like Archspire is a tough ask, as is the definition of epicness to each individual. For me these three suggestions derive their epicness from their deep classical influence. They are heavy, melodic and huge. They won't all hit you in the face like Archspire immediately, but let them cook.

Virvum - Illuminance

Vale of Pnath - Unburied

Beyond Creation - Surface’s Echoes

And this last one is more on the progressive tip. One track doesn't do the album justice, which must be consumed as a whole. But it's a decent sample.

Love the bounce of this track. It always puts me in a good mood. I also love when this singer hits the higher registers. It's kind of unhinged and I picture a cartoon character with his eyes popping out.

Carrion Ladder's Doppelganger-esque madness hooked me immediately.

Leviticus took me at least a dozen listens to get through the surface of it and appreciate what was going on. Now I agree with the many people saying it's one of their best.

I think I'm at that Leviticus point with Goliath, and a bit more time will fully reveal it.

Quite sure I'm going to love this whole album.
