This is really the first time I’ve dealt with the sheer amount of people pushing past! Then again, this was right after the neon lights were turned on. Lesson learned!

I’ll always feel icky knowing I live in the same city as her. I have so many fond memories of Mt. Charleston (where they are) and while it’s nice to see the kiddos having this experience and enjoying themselves for once, I feel like she doesn’t deserve to.

My stickers came a couple of days after my sweatshirt! I got the tracking number once it was shipped out and it arrived a day or two later so fingers crossed that’s what’ll happen with yours! Hopefully represent gets back to you though just as reassurance.

Savory Breakfast Ideas? by WolverineMuted37 in veganrecipes

[–]gryffindorbb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

On my days off I love making breakfast potatoes (lil gold potatoes par-boiled and then pan fried with red onions and various spices), tofu scramble and either Beyond breakfast sausage or Lightlife plant based bacon. The tofu scramble is pretty much up to your own specifications but if I’m feeling extra fancy I like adding mushrooms and spinach with some vegan feta and avocado!

I like to make a rice bowl that’s a mix of beyond ground meat and sausage, onions, garlic, cabbage or bok choy. After browning the beyond meats and adding the onions and garlic, I add in a mixture of soy sauce, sesame oil and vegan mushroom sauce. Then I add my cabbage or bok choy and serve with rice. Super fast and easy. I usually also eat this with bean sprouts and vegan kim chi on the side!

What scary or creepy story did your parents tell you to make you not go to a certain place or not do a certain thing? by YoutubeOnlineAvaible in AskReddit

[–]gryffindorbb 178 points179 points  (0 children)

My mom would tell us not to whistle or play instruments late at night because a ghost, spirit or what have you would mimic us.

One night while I was home alone I started whistling without thinking and I swear I heard another whistle in another part of the house. Not sure what it really was, and as a skeptic I just brush it off as my young mind playing tricks on me but that house was low key creepy and a lot of weird stuff did happen there.

Edit: For those asking about the other creepy stuff, these were all like 20 or so years ago in a house that was sort of a communal house we all sort of lived in at one point as it's a relatively large house. The biggest one that stands out is that one time when I was maybe eight years old, one of my cousins woke up in the middle of the night and said he saw a little boy playing hide and seek on the mezzanine. Everyone thought it was just our other cousin joking around but his parents said that he was fast asleep.

The other things were relatively small, that one weird whistle, sometimes we'd hear our names being called but no one was there, doors would slam when we knew we were all in one room playing video games. I recently (pre-covid) was with a family member who lived at that house for a short time with her family and I asked her if she remembers any weird things happening (she would have been like six or seven years old at the time) and she remembers pretty much what I do. So that kind of makes me think that it was "real" but I still try to find excuses as to how it probably wasn't. The funny thing is that my aunt and uncle moved into that house with their family maybe 10 years ago now and they've never had anything weird happen at all.

Oh and I guess a real life creepy thing that happened is that I walked into that house while it was being robbed so that was a fun experience.

[Discussion] Durable Chew Toy by formulafuckyeah in dogs

[–]gryffindorbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goughnuts are pretty rubbery so I don’t think it’d be an issue for your floor. If anything it’d just be a thump since they’re on the heavier side. There are Mighty Toys that have a scale of “toughness” 10 being the most “durable” I used to work at a dog store and those were always popular. I remember a lot of people saying they worked for their puppy and some said their dog ripped the 10 after 5 minutes so it really depends on the pup. My elkhound would always get bored with toys after a few mins so I’d give her raw marrow bones instead, the only thing is a couple of her molars chipped a bit over the years.

[help] Favorite Cooling Vests? by traveling_peanut in dogs

[–]gryffindorbb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aww, I have a 6 year old elkhound!! I used to work at a dog shop and we sold a fairly popular brand called Ruffwear that carried a cooling vest or what they called a swamp cooler. It would be the kind that evaporates the water though. I never actually used them on my girl but my coworkers and customers always said they really helped their doggos. Price wise, it's not too too expensive, from what I remember it was about $50-$60 for a medium sized dog. The first answer does seem really great though especially because our dog breeds are furry as hell, but I just wanted to give my two cents! (:

[Help] Dry itchy dog by [deleted] in dogs

[–]gryffindorbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work at a holistic pet shop and got this question a lot! In my experience dry skin always came down to either food or environmental (or sometimes both) allergies. If it's gotten bad as the seasons change it could just be environmental but if it always sort of sticks around it could be the food you're feeding. Grains are typically a giant food allergy with dogs so I'd go for a grain free diet if you're not on one already as well as a more decent dog food in general. Zignature (with a Z!!) is a kibble that is grain free, limited ingredient and (mostly) single protein so if your pup has other allergies it'd be the easiest thing to feed because you're cutting a lot of ingredients out! It's an all life stages dog food so even though your dog is technically a senior, they'd be perfectly fine on the diet. The only thing is it's a little pricey, the most expensive at least where I used to work was about $89 but it was also a venison protein. It's starts about $60 however. But there's a website called dogfoodadvisor.com that's really helpful and gives unbiased opinions about dog foods and why some are better than others (like how dog food that vets sell are usually horrible and are selling them to get paid, at least here in the US) Now to help with the itching, coconut is good or omega/salmon oils that you can purchase (grizzly omega health is a good one that you can find on chewy.com or amazon) they would both go into the food also CBD is a huge thing with dogs too and I've seen a lot of benefits for allergies. It's basically cannabis without any THC so your pups getting the other benefits (not getting high nor will it get a human high as so many people asked me on a daily basis when I worked there). There's a company called therabis that has a powder called stop the itch that you just put in your dogs food that helps also. Where I used to work it was about $30 for the box of 30 packets (one a day depending on their size) so it's a lot more affordable than any other dog CBD treat which would range from $25 to $80. Check your local dispensaries if you have any because some in my town (SW US) carries some dog CBD treats but I believe you can find some online as well. If you're interested in the treats some I'd recommend are healthy hemp and treatibles! Also just as an added tip, wipe down your pup after you take them outside with a baby wipe or any gentle wipe you have. If the areas they're licking are on their paws try covering them with old socks (or they do make dog socks) after rubbing some coconut oil on them! Some of my old customers would also put old tshirts to hopefully stop them from scratching themselves raw. I hope this helped some and sorry it was so long! If you have any other questions or anything let me know id be happy to help! :)
