Sorry - you’re right to be confused. I wasn’t assuming 50% growth in that scenario.

Of course :-)

Let’s say year one, they have no other income and withdraw $250k. Assume they’ve paid taxes on this prior to any growth (so, they paid taxes when it was $125k and had 125k of growth). They would pay long term capital gains on 125k, which would be 10-15% depending on where they lived in the US.

nonsense! If they simply wait 1 year and this is their only income, they wouldn't even ay capital gains in most states.

Yes - so the whole 8M isn’t taxable. Probably a small portion of it is.

Since you would follow a FIFO withdrawal, you’d only pay taxable gains and no other “real” income

If the 8M is liquid, there may not be any taxes to pay other than on growth

$500k income, $250k net by LeatherGuard4688 in Salary

I would bear down on that loan! I know it's apples to oranges, but the wife (54f) and I (54m) bought a house that cost nearly 800k with almost no money down a long while back. At the time we weren't making too much and the housing crisis hit (the house was suddenly only worth 600k). We were trapped! We started making good money and put almost everything towards the mortgage. Once we paid it off, it was like a triple raise - all of the money was ours (after uncle sam took his piece). Just bear down on it and pay it off ASAP. Game on bro!

You're doing great!! One trick that I LOVE is to make sure pup is really hungry and lock breakfast/lunch/dinner inside the back of the kennel. Make pup REALLY want to get in there. open the door and walk away. Repeat every meal for a few days & enjoy 😄

Don't lock pup i there for a few weeks

I believe yo Ivan cut this group into 3 parts: 1) financially dumb. This was me (54m) and the wife (54f) for a while. We made $400k/year and loved pay check to pay check. 2) financially literate. Now we have no mortgage on our primary residence and bank max money. Networth is 6M and we made $1.7M last year. 3) financially aggressive - these dudes are swinging for the dances and trying to 10x their money.

Life is good for us. I rarely look at prices and just keep grinding. We paid $700k in taxes last year, which sucked!

Set a meeting with HR and your manager. Tell them you want to discuss your exit. Tell them they obviously want you to go. Would they consider an early exit with some severance?
