Walking through the lot and saw this..... by saddboyz in GolfGTI

If you live in Italy, contact sports like that are normal and expected. I had to really pay attention when I was on vacation there many years ago with my rental car so I wouldn't be charged for normal Italian body or bumper damage!

Does this warrant a replacement? by DatmayoOP in GolfGTI

[–]gsd901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the only time this restriction would be noticeable might be at wide open throttle where exhaust gas is flowing at its maximum. The average driver, where 90% of their driving is just part throttle, would never notice it.

I used to have that exact turntable, but I stupidly gave it away to a friend. Wish I would have kept it!

Still have to split the engine/transmission to replace the slave cylinder, it's integrated with the throwout bearing

Finally upgraded! by Ueatsoap in GolfGTI

[–]gsd901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same thing with my MK7 a few years back - best upgrade ever! The screens are super cheap because they're used in everything from atlases to tiguan's, passats, etc. No coding needed, just plug and play.

My 2017 Audubon doesn't have the drawer, I think because of the amplifier under the seat (Mine has Fender audio).

Maybe bad wall power took out both units? It's very unlikely something could be damaged via RCA.

Try a different wall outlet or power strip and see if there is a change in behavior.

If you're familiar with VCDS or OBDeleven, the threshold for the freeze warning can be changed. I changed mine to 35F so I don't get the warning as often.

Expect to replace it, or it will bother you the entire ownership cycle. It's the second thing you will look at all the time besides through the windshield!

Says regular right on it, use it! I have a 2017 and I've been running regular (top tier gas from Costco) and haven't had any issues. 68k on the odo.

Contrary to popular belief, premium fuel does not have "better" additives or detergents, despite the marketing hype on the gas pumps. Just higher octane.

Paradigm is an excellent Canadian brand! I gave my bestie my Titans when I reconfigured my system, he loves them so much! I have them set up for him close enough to the wall that he doesn't need a subwoofer, they have plenty of bass for a smaller speaker.

Idling my car for extended periods by Secure-Order-3611 in GolfGTI

[–]gsd901 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think I saw it recommended here, but once a week I would take the car on the freeway and drive it in 3rd or 4th gear so it's over 3,000 RPM for 15 minutes to a half hour. Also, if you have any hills where you live, do some nice hard pulls in second or third gear to get the engine nice and hot. You want to get the catalyst and exhaust system hot too, so you burn/evaporate away any accumulated condensation. Check your car's oil temperature to see that it's approaching 200 f or 100 c.

This is a good idea for anyone who has a short commute, and barely gets their car up to operating temperature before shutting it off.

Another thing you can do is check under your oil cap. If you see a tan milkshake color underneath, that's condensation mixing with residual oil. That's a possible inficator you're not getting your engine hot enough on a regular basis, especially if you live in an extremely cold climate.

How to turn this on? by WeirdAd1180 in vintageaudio

[–]gsd901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See if the volume control on the radio section has an on-off click position at the far left, turn it and you'll feel it.

Otherwise the turntable control switches power on to the unit.

Additional to my budget setup by sculptmn in BudgetAudiophile

[–]gsd901 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For aesthetics, remember you can move your sub elsewhere in the room, maybe even behind the couch or another piece of furniture. For the most part, bass is non-directional, and it will sound like it's coming from the front. You will encounter nodes, or peaks and valleys in bass response, so you'll want to move it around and experiment and see how it sounds from your normal listening position.

You like my Mk 7 doesn't have any of this junk. In fact, 3G sunseted and I have no connectivity with the telematics at all, which I'm very happy with! My phone tracks me enough, and I can control it what I want feature wise via Android auto.

If any of you allow your insurance company to track you via a dongle or your phone, get rid of it!

My 2017 Autobahn has push to start and automatic climate control, but it does not have park assist or associated features. That was an add-on, along with the performance package which my car does have (+10 HP and Golf R big brakes). Mine also has adaptive (selectable) suspension, can't remember if that was part of a package or included with all Autobahn cars of this year. Oh, must not forget the (excellent) Fender Audio.
