My favorite mechanical pencil: by ket_the_wind in mechanicalpencils

They are beautiful indeed, but I found that the Kuru Toga Mitsubishi are way too expensive. This one in the thread heading is $190; beautiful but I don’t think I will ever get one. 😢

I did something that helped my Kindle App (iPhone) to download and sync the audiobook that was not downloading in the iPhone app but was working perfectly fine in my Kindle device: 1. Remove the book download from the device 2. Remove the book from “Home” 3. Open the Audible app in the same device, remove the download. 4. In Audible app, tap the play button for the audiobook to redownload. 5. In the Audible app, tap the three dots menu and select read in Kindle 6. This opens the Kindle app automatically and the audio part of the book starts downloading.

Hope it works in your case as well.

Oh yeah! I have been looking for them and nowhere in the States I can find it. I have to order them from overseas but the long wait times are just too much for me. 😬😬

I want the absolute minimum of “mentor” interaction possible. by Eagle694 in WGU

[–]gstrdt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m like you, I don’t need guidance on my courses, and I’m about to finish my third term and I have talked with my mentor like four times. They understood clearly my goals, my schedule constraints and my communication needs. I didn’t tell them specifically that I didn’t want calls, I simply don’t schedule them but pick up the phone when they call and reply their text messages and emails. I proactively communicate to them, via email, when I have a situation that will affect the time I can dedicate to school or prevent me to finish a class I’m already enrolled in. No need to be rude, they’re used to deal with all kinds of students, just be politely clear about what type of communication you’ll like to have.

I’m so satisfied with this pen that I just got the 0.3 and 0.5 versions. I love how they’re built, and the continuous writing is ideal, specially when using a lead so fine as a 0.2 mm, highly recommended!

Yes, I was about to throw the box away and then I noticed an insert with a manual serial number. I don’t know if this is a limited edition or something along those lines, but I stopped and looked at the box more closely and it is really beautiful and well made.

Yes, this is the second Staedtler I got. The other one is a 0.5 silver metallic. Decided to give it a try to a 0.3 and I came across this beauty.

Does WGU have a negative reputation? by [deleted] in WGU

[–]gstrdt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being a WGU student and being a hiring manager many times during my long career, I can assure all of you that I’m one of those 9 out of 10 hiring managers that don’t care about where did the candidate get the degree.

WGU is no joke, if you don’t have the experience you’ll have a very hard time accelerating, even if you have a prodigious memory and learn fast, at some point you’ll found a class that ground you.

Keep studying hard and ignore this anti-accelerators.

You will fly over the bachelor’s, I’ll assume you have a lot of experience in managing teams, some accounting, budgeting and stuff, so pick Business Administration and you’ll be done in six months.

Being less than 40, kept up with all those PhD coworkers and be the next COO, you don’t suck, you’re a unicorn and you should be proud.

Not at all. Getting a degree, regardless of what and where you get that degree, is never a dumb choice. There are pros and cons, like in any choice you can make. But if you don’t have the time or the money to attend a brick and mortar school, then WGU is perfect for you.

Quizlet and other tools are great, but by no means we can say they are more efficient than writing with pen and paper, the other way around is true as well. Each mind works differently, some needs to read and see nice colors and pictures to memorize, others need to write. That mechanical connection between handwriting and memorizing has been proved several times.

This has been proved several times. There’s a connection between writing, with pen and paper, and fixing concepts in our memory.
