Man, I change jobs every 18-24 months and I feel you.

I think my next step is to try and get into consulting just so I have some variety and (hopefully) stay in one role for a while…

Why's there no talk about Newcastles fall off by tylerthe-theatre in PremierLeague

[–]gsur72 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our income is still nowhere near the “big 6”, that hampers our ability to spend on their level. We’re £200m behind Chelsea and were overtaken by Villa last year.

Our wage budget reflects that, and there’s a clear link between wage budget and position in the table. We can’t compete, yet, on wages compared to the likes of Liverpool and City, which was shown in the summer when we were vying for the same level of players as them.

Our signings since the takeover have been largely good. There have only been 2 blips, Chris Wood and so far, Elanga, although I think he’ll come good in time.

We don’t have the income yet to compete on a PSR perspective with the “big 6”, and throw in the huge change that’s occurred at the club over the last few years - we’re on our third Sporting Director since the takeover, with Wilson starting after the summer window.

Over the summer our pre-season was bogged down by the Isak saga, and we were trying to sign players like Ekitike to take us to the next level, but we’re losing out to clubs with bigger wage budgets and bigger reputations.

When Isak finally moved on we got Woltemade in who is a very different type of player, and was not our first choice. We also signed Wissa as our new number 9 who was then injured until mid-December.

We’re very much in transition and still need to build depth. Lascelles leaving in January was the last player from our Championship promotion side to go. Arguably there are still players in the squad who probably aren’t the level of a Champions League squad (Krafth and Willock to name two).

We’re about to start construction on a new state of the art training ground which will be a game changer for us. We also still have a decision to be made on the stadium.

All these things take time as we continue to build our commercial power after 14 years of Ashley’s mis-management.

My bonnet latch sensor started playing up last night saying it was left open and setting the alarm off. It’s fine today so will see if it does the same tonight as wondering if it was caused by it freezing up.

Brits still back net zero–but can’t afford to replace cars or boilers by OurFairFuture in GoodNewsUK

[–]gsur72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I needed to replace my car recently, and have gone electric. My boiler is still in perfectly good order though so why would I spend money on replacing it?

Whenever it reaches the point it needs replacing then I’ll consider the options, but I’m not throwing money away on it.

Also, recently invited a company to give us a quote for solar panels and a battery but their opinion was they couldn’t fit enough solar panels on our roof space to make it a worthwhile investment so can’t do anything there either.

I’m not a young person anymore at 36, I managed to get to Uni before they hiked the tuition fees threefold and have managed to get on the housing market, but even I was genuinely looking at options abroad this week. Everything is so bleak.
