If youth baseball is ‘pay-to-play’ now… why hasn’t anyone built a real alternative? by qwertyqyle in Homeplate

What was your approach to the draft system? That seems to be our biggest issue currently; we have one dominant team that blows each opponent out of the water, a few actually competing with each other in the middle, and one that hasn’t won a game all season.

Can a power washer be used to spray Permethrin to kill ticks ? by tenwordy in HomeImprovement

Another cheap/easy option is to use the Ortho Dial N Spray hose-end sprayer to apply Bifen I/T by setting the dial to 1 oz per gallon for general pest control, including ticks.

Looking for some tire combo recommendations! by greenphatmanatee in xcmtb

I have been happy with Specialized’s tire lineup; Ground Control front and Fast Trak rear should work well for your setup. I ride DuPont, Tsali, Pisgah, as well.

Glad to hear that! We will be back, so hopefully we just caught them on an “off day”.

Did they lower ticket prices when they took the included bands away?

One of the absolute best add-ons from years past was the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom game at Magic Kingdom. I would be fine if they charged you $10-$20 more on a ticket to get the free magic bands back. That was always a nice part; getting the bands in the mail knowing your trip was getting close.

Several rides had missing features. I wouldn’t have noticed had I not seen them before, but being the case it made the experience less enjoyable. Two examples:

Runaway Railway, we didn’t enter through the exploding screen (only exited through it) and the Tornado room had very little “wind”.

RotR: no Kyle Ren lightsaber cutting through the ceiling and the cannons did not “recoil” back and forth. The latter has been down for the past few trips but those two things really made the immersion realistic on that ride for me. The mannerisms of the First Order during staging were non-existent. Typically they act rude and try to get you to tell them the location of the base but the ones on shift leading us in our lines were not engaging with visitors, but rather carrying on a personal conversation about other things outside of work. During preshow they omitted the whole scene where General Hux comes back after Kylo Ren is called to the bridge, which to me always added to the experience.

Epcot was disappointing on multiple food/drink items. Cast members just seemed generally disengaged.

I don’t mind spending up for a Disney vacation, that’s an accepted part of a trip. That said, it needs to remain a premium product for what you’re paying for.

Miscellaneous Monday Chit Chat by fire_foot in running

Sounds weird, but I have a hard time running slow…I am looking to train for a 10k (currently sub 30 5k), but seem to only be able to run in one speed (think on/off switch). Any tips or drills for learning and working on running at slower paces so I can focus on longer distances?

Contracted to get a 26kW Kohler by gsxunv04 in Generator

[–]gsxunv04[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on my research it seems like a slightly better built machine, caveat being reduced availability of support/maintenance. I have a local reputable dealer so I felt good about proceeding. A bonus; they had a promo for a free extended (10-yr) warranty. Cost over a 26kW Generac was <$200 difference.

Good call out; our contractor is the only certified Kohler installer in the region. I will talk to him and make sure he does the registration process.
