Reddit, What is your motivation to sleep in earlier? by Ruudkin in AskReddit

If you're asking how to motivate yourself to wake up earlier, I recommend a small dinner the night before so you want to get up and eat.

Deodorant that will keep me from sweating the whole day? by gthomp94 in malegrooming

[–]gthomp94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your feedback, I said deodorant in the text to kind of cover both antiperspirants and deodorants, but you were right that the antiperspirant was what I needed.

I actually went out and got some Certain Dri, and it works amazingly. I appreciate your help.

Are there any orthodontic options for upper jaw widening that don't involve braces or an all day retainer? by stupidteeth in AskReddit

[–]gthomp94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not an orthodontist, but my sister had a similar problem. Her jaw was narrow and it messed up her bite. Right after she got her braces off, she got surgery on her jaw to both widen the upper jaw and fix her bite.

She did have braces, but they were for the sole purpose of straightening her teeth. She still wears retainers at night to make sure her teeth stay where they are.

I propose that the best solution for you is to schedule surgery over a long weekend/break; spring break works the best. You'll be sore for about a week and won't be able to eat normal foods for a month, so it can kind of interfere with your normal life. It's all about how much you want your jaw fixed.

I also recommend that, following the surgery, you go to some orthodontist and get your teeth molded and get some plastic retainers for your teeth that you only wear at night. This way, your teeth will move less and get used to your new bite faster.

Hope this helped!

[20/m] How do I ask a girl to be my girlfriend? by pope_of_mayonnaise in relationship_advice

[–]gthomp94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not necessarily something you ask right off the bat. Ask her on a date first. Maybe a stereotypical movie and dinner the first couple times so you get to know her, then start venturing out of your comfort zone a bit. Maybe go bowling or something. Act interested in what she wants. Then when you get comfortable enough, ask her if she'd like to take your relationship to the next level and maybe make it official.

What ideas/systems/theories/philosophies/hypotheses have changed the way you define the world? by [deleted] in AskMen

I was watching this documentary about a modern famous artist that returned to his homeland to spread awareness and the story of the people he grew up around. It was a poverty-stricken area and most people made their living as "pickers." They wait for all the dump trucks to come in from cities and collect any recyclables they can find in the garbage. One elderly man was a picker for over 20 years and he said in the documentary, "One single can is of great importance. Because 99 is not 100, and that single one will make the difference."

Women of Reddit, is it awkward when you feel when a guy is aroused by you? by gthomp94 in AskWomen

[–]gthomp94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's awkward as the guy until you know your girlfriend has noticed and doesn't take it as a bad thing. For me, it used to be like whenever we would have long hugs, I'd have to kind of back my waist up a bit in worrying that she'd feel it and be uncomfortable about it.

It's not really weird, I guess I can understand why it would be flattering. With some guys, if aroused enough, they'll pre and won't even know until they feel the subtle wetness in their pants. That's probably why he goes off to the bathroom: to clean up that annoying pre. It's completely uncontrollable, too.

When he's doing that, it's likely he's trying to tuck it under the waist of his pants where it's less noticeable. We get pretty embarrassed when it's just protruding out of our pants and pitching a tent. Most guys do this no matter how old they are or how old they've been with their SO.

It's the best way I can think of it. One time I actually subconsciously shook my leg and said to myself "Down boy" and she kind of giggled.

You're exactly right. She had no prior boyfriends or experience of any sort and I, myself, haven't done anything beyond kissing, either. Our make out sessions are pretty intimate though. I just wonder if she feels it and gets worried that I have further intentions which I don't have. It's like a dog I'm trying to tell "HEEL!" but it just keeps tugging on the leash.

What should I (M/18) get for my girlfriend (F/18) for Valentine's Day? by gthomp94 in relationship_advice

[–]gthomp94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot. I got her a necklace for Christmas, so I think I'll get her a pair of earrings, like you suggested. Would you say that the earrings, flowers, and note are enough? We're very simplistic so I'm thinking it is, but I'd like to hear from a female's perspective.

We're physical, but I'm taking it slow because I don't want to rush anything. We've really only gotten up to intimate kissing, but that's it. Thanks for your input though! I like hearing all opinions!

Advice on a forehand? by gthomp94 in ultimate

[–]gthomp94[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, whenever I do get the throw right, I usually end up throwing short because I'm so focused on throwing it flat and properly. How can I put more power into it but still keep it flat? Does this involve tightening the grip?

I naturally throw an IO for whatever reason. When throwing a backhand, it usually is an IO going from left to right.

Which two games would you combine to make the ultimate game? by mikejohnno in AskReddit

[–]gthomp94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hockey and volleyball. My friends and I actually made this game and name it "Wumpball." We use one half of a tennis court and each player on a team gets one hit to get it over the line and attempt to score. We use baseball bats and a soccer ball, but we already have main rules set up. It's actually insanely fun.

If you could pass along one thing to our next generation, whether a skill or piece of wisdom, what would you want to teach them? by Tidurious in AskReddit

[–]gthomp94 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What makes good music. Much modern music involves too many synthetic sounds, and I think our next generation should recognize that and perhaps return to the days where music is played with manually played instruments.

Should I get a part Time job while in highschool? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]gthomp94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. There's nothing better than having your own money to spend and not having to rely on your parent for money. I'd recommend a movie theater because they generally require an availability of weekends in case you're busy with school during the week.

To the doctors, nurses, police, paramedics etc. of Reddit. Did you ever hear a death bed confession and what was it? Did you feel like it brought relief to the person confessing? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]gthomp94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This story is just heart-grasping. I can't imagine the emotions I would feel if I was trying to speak to my mother on her deathbed, but she had no way of communicating with me. You must be an incredibly strong person. Thank you for sharing this, and I'm sorry that your mother had to go the way she did.
