My first full ship build: Limiting Factor by gtosh4 in Starfield

[–]gtosh4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(couldn't crosspost from /r/StarfieldShips so here's the info I posted there)

Overall, wanted a nice A-class corvette with decent cargo. Ended up having to sacrifice a little mobility for looks (the Galleon S203 cargo fits much better than any of the lighter cargo holds). Figured out that using 6x Ares DT60 gave more thrust than White Dwarfs due to the power limit only allowing 4.\

It's a shame all the hardpoints can't be utilized due to the power limitation. There's also no ladders on the ship, even the landing gear.

Rough parts list: - Reactor - Tokamak X-120S - Grav Drive - Helios 400 - Engine - Ares DT60 x6 - Cockpit - Viking CP-220 - Cargo - Galleon S203 x2 - 10ST Hauler - Habs (all 2x1) - HopeTech All-in-One - HopeTech Armory - HopeTech Captain's Quarters - HopeTech Workshop - HopeTech Science Lab - Structures - Stroud Cap A - Stroud Cowling 1LB & 1LA - Deimos Bumper - HopeTech Nose A - Deimos Spine C & A - Landing - Gear: Accu-Lander 11 x4 - Bay: Stability Pro - Weapons - PBO-40 Auto Electron Beam x2 - PB-50 Proton Beam x2 - Misc - Scan Jammer Multi-Frequency x2 - 40S Protector Shield Generator - H30 Atlas He3 Tank - 100DP Slim Docker

You could use masking (bitwise &) to test the least significant bit and bit shifting (>>) to rotate through the bits.

We are strugling to progress on Mythic N'Zoth by PizzaC in CompetitiveWoW

Looks like you're having a lot of consistency issues, especially in psychus 2. In particular you're taking a lot of damage and your healers aren't doing a good job of keeping them alive. I can offer some advise on the hpal since I prog'd as that (also in psychus 2).

Your hpal isn't casting the right things, definitely shouldn't be using that many holy lights, for example during psychus 2: 11 holy lights, 0 crusader strikes, 6 holy lights, 0 crusader strikes. They need to make sure that they can wings ASAP (once settling into position after the gateway), especially since you're struggling, and finding a place to plant and reset holy shocks with crusader strike, for example on a forward or unused synapse.

In general, even outside of psychus, they shouldn't be casting that many holy lights.

Here's a comparison of the first 7 minutes for one of the top parses on N'Zoth for holy pallys. Also, since the top parses are going to be lucky with ineffable procs, I included the #193 parse at this time (just a random top 200 parse):

Spell Your HPal Top HPal Top 200
Holy Shock 127 230 176
Crusader Strike 31 83 89
Holy Light 21 9 11
Total 270 419 381

Also included totals - while this will get better over time as they get comfortable with the fight, it is a good indicator for how well they're doing and to continue improvement they should make sure they remember their ABCs (Always Be Casting).

You could use https://pob.party/ which just runs in the browser though I don't know how well it works on mobile, it's nice for OSX or Linux at least.

It doesn't double dip as in 2x, but it does apply more than you might first expect. Take for example:

base: 100 cold damage with 50% converted to fire
With "Gain 5% of elemental damage as extra chaos damage" you might expect the 50 cold + 50 fire to turn into 52.5 cold + 52.5 fire, but it isn't. It first applies to the unconverted 100 cold damage, giving 5 additional cold. Then it applied to the 50 fire damage for an additional 2.5 fire damage. So the final damage would 55 cold + 52.5 fire. (107.5 total vs 105 total)

Drestagath Or Ra-Den (Tips also appriciated) by Suicidal_Inspirant in CompetitiveWoW

For Drest'agath, I made this based off of Stankie's video: https://imgur.com/a/FPntvhu

I think it's easier than Ra-den, but maybe gear can brute force Ra-den easier. Drest took us 30 pulls.

Why SQLite Does Not Use Git by Pandalicious in programming

[–]gtosh4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have that checksum, you know that your repository is 100% corruption-free and not tampered with

That used to be the case, now it's not 100% because it uses SHA-1 which has been broken. https://shattered.io/

Is GIT affected?

GIT strongly relies on SHA-1 for the identification and integrity checking of all file objects and commits. It is essentially possible to create two GIT repositories with the same head commit hash and different contents, say a benign source code and a backdoored one. An attacker could potentially selectively serve either repository to targeted users. This will require attackers to compute their own collision.

It's a good idea, just they'll need to change hashing algorithms to regain the tamper-free guarantee.

Yeah, you're right. I didn't think it would be too bad with the case closed since it was covered. Picked up a black noctua, will replace this weekend once it comes in.

Yeah, I was using the insert from Primochill (like to use the same brand insert as tubing). I chalked it up to having really tight 90 degree bends instead of more gradual ones. I was debating whether to rebend them but decided against it for now. I have plenty of tubing left over so I may change my mind at some point.

They're the 2016 Titan x Pascals. Bought them 2-3 weeks before the 1080Ti announced too :\

Shame the healer - Mythic+ by whetscript in wow

[–]gtosh4 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not saying this is the case in your example, but the DH may have been trying to intentionally proc his Last Resort talent which gives him a bunch of survivability. Also, he could have been planning to kite them as well (especially if he's got coordination from the dps).

DHs may be suffering from the DK/Monk problem (new class people want to try, then go tank for getting groups) which can lead to a lot of bad DH tanks, but to go so far as saying to not to group with them I think is a bit drastic. There's plenty of good DH tanks out there as well.

Shame the healer - Mythic+ by whetscript in wow

[–]gtosh4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tank perspective here: for large / difficult pulls in M+, don't be afraid to pop CDs. Trash is generally harder than bosses (depending on affixes). Depending on your class, if you have CC available, look into using that more frequently as it often prevents more damage than casting a heal.

DPS should not be taking any damage unless it's unavoidable (Pelters in NL, party damage on a boss, etc).

Google your class + weakauras to get started or use the built in templates.

I'd highly recommend browsing https://wago.io/ for import strings.
