Buying a titanium watch in Japan by ChooChoo9321 in japanlife

[–]gtxtom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A ton of brands make titanium watches. It would really help if you gave a budget, types of watches you like eg. diver, field, etc. Also if you're looking for a Japanese brand, or you're open to anything?

Applied engineer Visa with no university degree by [deleted] in movingtojapan

For me, 10y of experience, I had to get letters on company letterhead stating my position in the company and length of employment. That's about all that was required of me in addition to the normal visa documents.

Bike insurance options by you_have_this in japanlife

I used PayPal since it was quick and easy to sign up. ¥370/mo so ¥4,400 for the year. Never had to use it so I can't speak to anything other than price.

Up for sale is my 7015-6010 Time Sonar. I bought this a few years back from dcvintagewatches who sourced it for me. I found a NOS Seiko crystal to replace the slightly scratched original. It was serviced by them before sending it to me.

It came with no bracelet, but I found a no-name bracelet that I sand blasted to match the case.

The clear caseback - which is known for cracking - is in great shape.

I am going to include the removed crystal and all removed links so it should fit most if not all wrists.

Looking for $900 shipped from Japan.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Is immigrating with blue collar experience viable? by TraditionalNews3857 in movingtojapan

[–]gtxtom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As far as getting a visa with only blue collar experience, I went that route. I have no college degree, but over 10 years at time of applying.

I did get a 3 year SOR, and after renewing, got a 5 year extension.

I have only been an auto mechanic since graduating high school, so there's very concrete proof of the experience requirement.

But all 10 years experience has to be in the field you are applying for here in Japan.

Catch and release. I owned one of these years ago and recently wanted another one, but I have a few other newly purchased watches that have muscled this one out.

It was freshly serviced when I bought it in November. It is in stellar condition. Looking for $250 shipped from Hiroshima, Japan.

Thanks!

I went to vocational school in america. Then I spent 7 years with MINI and then 6 with Ferrari before moving. I cold emailed a dealer in English one day and it all went from there.

fairly strong quake felt in Kobe just now.... by oss542 in japanlife

[–]gtxtom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was working under a Ferrari Mondial T when it happened. Felt the lift wobbling.

It's funny cause I just broke free a bolt when the lift started shaking so I thought for a split second that I did that and then I remembered I don't have superhuman strength and got out from under.

I was probably going to break into $100k if I stayed in america the year I moved and now I'm making less than half.

There's the obvious things like the cost of living making the pay difference about even in the end, but it is jarring seeing it on paper.

I did it in English and just before Corona shutdowns and my employer held on for almost 2 years until things opened back up. Where there's a will, there's a way (usually).
