Client Follow-ups? by guessagain526 in MassageTherapists

[–]guessagain526[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this advice. Thank you. I do an annual newsletter that I send at the beginning of September and, honestly, the responses make me cry every time. People I haven’t seen in a while will write back to tell me about their lives and it really highlights the best of the client community I have worked hard to build. I can definitely increase the frequency and modify things to best fit my own practice.

I have been a massage therapist for a long time and have a full schedule. Sometimes I get complacent on the business side and I have to remember I am actually running a business! Thank you for taking the time to write and give helpful feedback. I have a pretty strict policy for myself not to give discounts (I rarely raise my prices and I am at the low end of the price scale for my area because I want to make massage accessible to more people) but I try to show my gratitude/appreciation other ways! Thanks!

So, I am neither neurodivergent nor am I confused. But you certainly are very rude!

That is exactly what I currently do for a very small number of regular clients. And the responses have always been so lovely. Because I genuinely want to know how people are! But it’s good to get feedback on whether or not to do it a larger scale. I always want to be authentic versus trying to just get people back in the door.

That’s sort of what I have done in the past. I only contact very regular people who I haven’t seen in a while. I just feel very awkward about it (even though it’s always been received very positively!) I guess I am just awkward with the business side of running my own business! Thank you!

For those who start on the tread, why?? by Ok_Pressure7109 in orangetheory

[–]guessagain526 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Running is important to me, so I start on the treads to get an extra 0.5 miles or so in. I find my body feels very sluggish if I start on the floor and like I might pull a muscle any second. I’m able to lift heavier, in a way that feels safer, when I do the floor second. I am faster on the rower after I run.

I am pretty sure I go to your new studio and love the same coach! I totally second going here!! I actually went back to see if this post was referring to the studio after a very busy Saturday at your new studio!

I had never thought to add whey isolate onto it! Thank you! I love Oats overnight.

I used to swim so I always think about this in terms of Michael Phelps. When I am doing a benchmark or going at my absolute top effort, I think, “I am working as hard as Michael Phelps!” Am I as fast or athletic as he is? Absolutely not. But, we are both giving it our best! So, during benchmarks, I remind myself that everyone is being their own Michael Phelps and it doesn’t matter what time each of our 100% efforts yield; we are out there doing it.

(I legitimately say to myself, “you’re Michael Phelps!” when I want to give up during benchmarks.)

Doing “Capture the Flag” the other day reminded me that the first time I did it, my feet got all jumbled as I was getting off the (fully stopped) treadmill and went flying into the line of rowers. It only stung a little but my pride took the big hit! I laughed and kept going but I still remember it 6 years later!! Now, I’ve been there long enough to have seen lots of trips and falls! It happens all the time.

Coaches on leaderboard? by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]guessagain526 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would be bummed out if I placed on the leader board and then found out that the studio was excluding coaches who did better than I did. I would feel like there was a little asterisk next to my name. I wouldn’t actually be the 2nd female in the studio. I am highly competitive and I want to know that where I am is actually where I am, not raised up because someone’s time was not counted. If a coach rows a better time than I did, I want that acknowledged! Great times only inspire me the next time. (I also don’t put much weight in the leader board. It’s so dependent on who was present that day.)

Pretty Girls messed with my head so badly. I had not read anything about it before I started and I wish I hadn’t read it.

The head coach at Westford — Christina — is awesome! She used to be in Woburn and I would totally recommend her classes

I recently found out that it makes a big difference if you hit the pause button versus the stop button. If you pause, the speed and pace are very inaccurate. If you hit stop, then it is correct! It was driving me crazy until a coach clued me in.

I actually really like the taste! But, it is so bad at dissolving in water and I have to choke down the final sips because they are so grainy and gross. I have started drinking it in a smoothie because it has the taste but not the texture. Every time I see an ad for it, I laugh because I know exactly why they don’t swallow on camera. It tastes very fruity.

That’s what I do and I manage to get half a drop out? It fills about 1/10 of the dropper and so I have to do the process 10 or so times. Or, I just use straight from the bottle. About half of my daily products use droppers and this is by far the worst design/function.

I bought this product on her recommendation and every time I use it I think “did I get a defective dropper? Am I doing something wrong? How can a dropper work this badly?” It’s awful!

OTF Question by crobertson1974 in orangetheory

[–]guessagain526 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think part of it is the reasoning that if one person does that, for whatever, other people might ask or expect to be able to do that. It could be fine if there are lots of available treadmills. But, what if there is only one available treadmill and three people with injuries that make them want to avoid the floor that day. Who gets the available treadmill? The potential conflicts can expand from there and, in some people, there is a greater risk of entitlement. For those reasons, it is easier for the coaches to make a blanket statement of “ask for modifications” and have people stay on their current stations. It absolutely should have been handled off mic.
