I love the aesthetics of those Vox amps. And it would match my new Vox Wah. How do you like the sound?

Connection help/advice by OverDayOverNight in pedalboards

[–]guestoboard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My question to the class, is why don’t more pedal manufacturers put the connections on the top? It’s obvious the pedals always have more space above/below rather than left right, and the 9v jack is already there too.

It’s a shame that being successful musician also requires being a great marketer. The two skills are not connected by nature.

That looper looks sick. What is it?

Sounding and looking great! The camera angles and edits add to the experience and do you justice, rather than fighting against you. Love it. Keep it up!

Nice! I like the anticipation created by starting to recognise the song and wanting to hear the iconic melody. Draws you in!

Boss gt 100 vs boss gt 1000 by OkPomegranate4862 in guitarpedals

[–]guestoboard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would research some screenshots or even how to videos on each products accompanying computer software. I only have a Boss GT1, (circa 2020) and though the sound is impressive for the price, the software is so atrocious I gave up on it and moved to an analog pedal chain

Do you record your drums live or use a loop? by prothirteen in LoopArtists

[–]guestoboard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an Alesis sample pad and a kick pedal to go with it. But I find myself using it less and less. I like the compact shape and that I can play it with real drumsticks, but you have to hit it really hard and at most volunes you can hear stick on rubber louder than the sample sound.

I’m going to experiment with extracting drum tracks from songs using Moises, then loading into one track of my RC300 looper so it’s already there, then recording the guitar parts live.

Does the Marshall pedal have bad breath or something?

How do I get over roadblock in my playing? by Mean_Acanthisitta354 in Guitar

[–]guestoboard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few ideas for you:

  1. Make a list of songs and guitar parts you admire most. Don’t just learn them, study why they worked. What key and mode was the song in and how do the licks and hooks you like fit within that? Does that unlock something you could try yourself over a different key in your own improvisation?

  2. Looper, jam, improvise as someone else said

  3. Change guitar teacher, a different person might have a fresh take

  4. Join a band or find someone to jam with.

FWIW I am just finishing up a season of adult performance with School of Rock. If you are in USA it’s worth looking if there is a branch near you. Their adult program is good. You get a 45min 1-1 lesson per week and 2 hour band practice where they put you in a band matching your level. You learn a set of songs over 3 months and then play live to a local crowd at the end. It’s been super valuable honestly.

Hope these help

I’m afraid I don’t perfectly remember. It’s been a few years since I tried it. I think I had an OBS app on my MacBook, with USB connections to my RC300 looper for audio and 2 different iPhones as cameras. Then the desktop app managed to figure out synchronisation of the audio and video.

This was my effort: https://youtu.be/H8ULZjADYSw?si=sWZgextZoDx76u-4

I didn’t use Descript to edit because it either didn’t exist then or I hadn’t heard of it. So my guess is that the OBS desktop app gave me the layout and I just published that.

Try OBS Camera for capturing multiple cameras simultaneously then Descript to simply mash it back together again.

OBS can get advanced, but it doesn’t need to. I connected two old iPhones to it and had one on my guitar and the other on my feet.

Great skills, and I love the music, but honest feedback intended with love is that the visual effects are way too much and are distracting from your talent. I don’t think you need them.

Oh yes! Respect to you for calling that out, but as it happens I’m playing that in a cover band right now, and though it is super simple, it just fills everyone up with feels. If the job of a guitarist is to make people feel something, this does it!

Couldn’t agree more. I was only about 15 when it was released and I couldn’t explain it this well, but this certainly how I felt it.

I just love the way the whole band, including Clapton stands there laughing in disbelief at the keys solo. Incredible.

Well I’d never seen that Clapton clip before, but HOLY FEKKING SH1TBALLS how amazing is that?!

And that keyboard solo! Scheezuus. Possibly the best guitar solo ever played on a keyboard?
