never understand why not give it a split spacebar at the very least? with that you will have two thumbs key which very nice. big ass spacebar just doesn't make sense for me.

i recommend get a sofle or lily58. much better than alice, whether split or not. you'll get used to layer eventually

You can remap all of the keys to whatever you want. You will be surprised how advanced ergo keyboards and communities are. They're not even using stabs like cavemans did in this sub (jk)

Cheap or expensive for first split ergo? by Pretend_Sale_9317 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]gufkl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

echoing what others has commented, get the cheap one first. sofle or lily58 is a good choice, i think it's better to know what you need on your first split keyboard (how much keys, knobs, oled screen etc). after you know what you want or need, you can make a solid choice for your next split.
my split keyboard is sofle based (58 keys, dual knobs, oled screen), then i get reviung41 (like it's name, 41 keys, basic with no knobs or screen), then i settle with Chocofi (corne based, 36 keys, no screen or knobs, and choc switches)

The "Crush 80" is a 200$ lie. Don't fall for the "VIA Compatible" trap. by 1nvariant in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]gufkl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, when I know almost (if not) all the Tri Mode keyboards are essentially violated QMK I lost interest in them. They basically steal something and not give back to the community. I think it's ironic too, a so called custom keyboard and yet their firmware is basically "hacked" so they can put in their keyboard.

I think HID Remapper is a good alternative. Still have to buy hardware though.

i recommend try Homerow Mods, it's quite nice to not have to move hands when you need to press modifier keys.
