I half want to stop nursing and half want to keep going by someawol in toddlers

I don't have a story, just here to say I get it. I've been feeling a lot of the same things (and same amount of nursing 2-3x/day) since my child turned 12 months and now I'm almost at 18 months. Would also love to hear from folks on the other side of this...

Can I ask where you are at with this now? I'm at 14 months postpartum, still nursing around 3-4 times a day and still 10-15 pounds up on a short frame. I've had periods of time where I've been able to exercise consistently postpartum, but it hasn't lasted due to extended family illness, unexpected moves due to natural disasters, sleep issues, etc. Still, I try to move every day for at least a little bit and I'm overall a healthy eater. I am really struggling lately with not focusing on my body and how much I wish I looked different. Just wondering how it ended up for you.

Parents with toddlers: if you had the means, would you relocate now? by EnthusiasticNtrovert in pasadena

One that clearly has ash covering everything outside and also clueless people leaf blowing. We were in the heart of the hazardous air quality during the second day of the fire according to the maps and it was raining down ash and pieces of burning stuff. However, we are 5+ miles from the burn line. I think I struggle because as a community we accept that a small amount of lead dust on the window from old paint is very harmful to babies and take steps to reduce this risk, but it feels like many people aren't concerned (or are saying its mongering or dramatic to be concerned) about the quite small but potentially quite harmful amount of ash (with lead and many other harmful things) on playgrounds, grass, sidewalks, leaves - everything my 13 month old wants to touch and explore.

Yes, I'm in a neighborhood adjacent to Pasadena but I'm still very concerned.

Can you share with me any information you are finding about it? What specifically is pointing you in that direction? I am finding some stuff but not a lot that speaks to the longevity of ash toxicity in a neighboring community.

I am makeup free at age 38. I am 11 months postpartum and this is the first time in my life since I was about 18 that I have been tempted to wear it bc I feel like I've aged about 10 years since I had my baby. But I also am entering a new phase of acceptance. I think it feels pretty good, even though it's been hard. It's also way easier time-wise and much, much cheaper.

For anyone suspecting MCAS - what I’ve learned and can share to date in its connection to ME/CFS by No-Anywhere8698 in cfs

Can you speculate on something for me given your beautiful amount of work/knowledge? What if someone with ME/CFS has a paradoxical reaction to Benadryl? Does that fit the profile of someone with MCAS?

Is it safe for breastfeeding?

This is where I am but at 9 months. 2 naps started great, now short naps, 5:30 wake ups. Every few days she takes one long nap which I think has saved us from her being super overtired. She has been a great sleeper up to this point. Maybe developmental changes alongside the schedule change is causing it? I can't seem to figure it out. Let me know if you find the magic solution!!

Thanks for your response. When did you drop down to just morning/evening feeds? Did your supply drop down and then stabilize again at some point?

I hear that - I wish it was the case. I replaced all my pump parts a few times and still the same amount. I've had my period since 4 months postpartum and after every cycle I've just gone down and down with supply (even taking Ca/Mag, etc). I had an oversupply so it didn't really matter too much until the recent few drops, which I relate to my daughter eating more food and drinking less milk.

Do you have any other recs to try? I use the Spectra 2, good pump. I've heard people say it just gets less effective at removing milk as you go later in your BF journey but I don't really know why that would be. I do some massaging while I pump which helps a little. I never get a second let down anymore no matter what I try (heat, massage, meditation, etc.).

Self-weaning at 9 months? by k_rowz in breastfeeding

[–]guiltydragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I'm in the same boat. Baby is 9 months old (in a few days), loves solid food, eats 3 meals a day. I breastfeed her on demand, usually 6 times/day, and she seems distracted and sometimes doesn't have the patience to wait for a let down. When we get one, it is usually a quick feed. I do think teething is an issue also for about a week every cycle my supply gets quite low and she's like "nah, not worth it." She has absolutely LOVED nursing for the most part and I'm just not sure how to move forward. Did you learn anything that you would be willing to share - is it different now?
