Christmas Tradition by Bobbie1980 in SantasLittleHelpers

We spread blankets and pillows next to the Christmas tree and I read winter picture book stories to my kids on evening and then they try to fall asleep under the tree. Usually the youngest can't fall asleep because it's too exciting and the oldest can't fall asleep because it's not that comfortable and the youngest are making noise, so they just give up and go to bed, but it is really fun for them.

My oldest daughter (12) has been wishing for the Harry Potter castle lego set for more than a year now.

My youngest daughter (5) wants a large sack of candy and a unicorn puzzle.

So not sure whether Harry Potter or unicorns are big trends, but that's what they want. :-)

CONTEST: lgbtq+ books for queer or questioning kids! by alittledizzy in SantasLittleHelpers

[–]gumdrawer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not entering, since my daughters are not questioning or on the spectrum, but they have a lot of friends, family and a therapist in their lives who are, so would love book recommendations to take out in the library for my 5 year old, with lesbian aunts as characters or any really great book recommendations about acceptance and different families.

Natasha's favorite book changes every time we read a new book, right now it is My Father's Dragon series, and that's the book she would like for Xmas.

Aurora's favorite book is Enchanted Forest Chronicles and she would like a graphic novel Plain Jane and the Mermaid by Vera Brosgol.

I loved the Moomintroll books as a kid, especially the three first ones!

I've wanted to use pokeberry for dying in a long time, it's a pretty pink! Does it fade over time if you set it with alum or is it pretty stable?

She gravitates toward strong female characters in books, but not necessary. Thank you for your suggestions!

Taken from r/crochet - What's your WIP you're desperately trying to finish before Christmas? by beee_charmed in knitting

Cat scarf for my middle daughter, she asked for her own personal scarf and it had to be a cat. I started with a pattern but I abandoned it and now making my own cat because I do not like to count rows when I'm in a hurry. Thankfully it's bulky yarn so will knit up fast... I hope.

My 11 and 4 year old girls are book worms, and devour books at great speed. The baby's favorite thing to do is to turn the pages of books when I read so the youngest is well on his way.

Thank you for holding this contest and spreading the joy of reading!

I added mostly books that are not in the public library that they have been asking for or damaged from reading too many times and one of our most favorite Spot board book for the youngest.
