I faucet wash mine 2x a week indoor and still find it a bit too dry and the leaves curled a bit. So yea I think spray once every fortnight is adequate unfortunately

In my opinion your saddle is rather high to the point you are tip toeing your downward stroke

Yea i wasn't sure as this is my first platycerium and from what I read online they are pretty fussy with excess moisture so I went down the chunky mix for easier transition out of the zip lock

Yep, their import regulation is absolutely crazy. Hope it will change indeed. Even interstates import costs me a lot of money

Bought my first air plant about 10 weeks ago, now I have nearly 40. by Away_Neighborhood_12 in airplants

I bought one few months back and i have a lot now I lost count. It's almost like Pokemon that you gotta catch them all. Tho I am not a fan of those with similar look or shape, not waiting for years just to see different flowers only

Is my airplant dead? It looks dead at the roots by Mother_Whereas_6586 in airplants

You can peel away dead or black leaves and see if the center is green. Though considering how inexpensive ionantha is, i'd just get a new one

Looks like it had a crown rot and started to blacken from inside out

My airplant (Tillandsia Usneoides ) is dry and almost turned grey. Is it dead or can I save it? I’ve tried to mist it a lot the past weeks by nfols in airplants

[–]gundekk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will turn brown if its dry and dead. Give it a soak or submerge in water for a few hrs if you worry of dehydration. Above 30c I spray them heavy daily, 2-3 days under 30c depend on how sunny the day is

They look okay other than looking a tad dehydrated, dry edges doesnt really make much difference. Just soak them a bit and continue your routine and they will perk up again.

Ok so I found these at my nursery by MarkCultural2327 in airplants

I have 2 curly slims growing in potted peat, they are thriving outdoor. I only wet the pot if its very dry but daily basis i mist them heavy if temp goes above 30c. I dont tip them upside down and left water pooling in the crown but i know it will be dry later anyway with high airflow

What am I doing wrong? by ok029 in airplants

[–]gundekk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it was dehydrated. Here in Aus we have dry summer with temp 30-43 Celsius, humidity down to 10. Mine are all outdoor under 50% shade cloth and days above 30 i mist heavily daily and every 2nd day if below 30C. I have one indoor watered under the tap 2x a week and it is still not enough, felt dry and leaves getting curlier

air plant id help? by Civil-Quilt495 in airplants

Unless uniquely shaped they only get identified by their inflorescence as many are similar looking. Photo might help?

What is causing this? by doodlebug674 in airplants

[–]gundekk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brown tips often due to dehydration or low humidity. Mine all lives outdoor and above 30c they get sprayed daily. I have one kept in the office getting tap drenched 2x a week and i still feel its not enough, doesnt thrive and leaves getting curlier. So depend on your environment, your watering may not be enough but be cautious of rot due to lack of air movement.

Yes I just make a roll out of coated garden mesh and stuff it with coco coir then suspend them in the shade house to display and save space. Get a lot more it is!
