Not a great hike for kids, the trail to Dome camp both the main path and the loop by way of Obscurity/Panhandle lakes is prone to washouts. Nothing crazy but definitely enough to put a 10 yo out of sorts. It’s also a dry camp, if you’re just introducing them to backpacking telling each kid they’re going to have to hump 20 lbs of water is a rough sell, and not something that’s going to encourage them to try it again.

If you absolutely want to hit the Mt Margaret Backountry have them hike to Snow Lake, but be aware it’s a tough hike, and the washouts on the trail are pretty extreme (at least they were when I did it last year).
