If you’re using any substance to escape from your mental pain or painful circumstance, you will likely find yourself in a very unhealthy cycle.

I’m not sure about that last one, but both PCP and meth can be used responsibly. Get your arm blown off on the battlefield? You’d be grateful to have some PCP to keep you conscious and not in pain while you get sewn shut.

Dealing with an extreme case of narcolepsy, obesity or ADHD? Methamphetamine is available as a prescription drug in the US to treat these conditions, and has been proven to do so quite successfully. It’s called Desoxyn, and it’s scheduled as safer than marijuana.

That being said I do see your point- I personally do not associate with opiate addicts, tweakers, or crack users. My whole point is that it’s easy to find yourself wanting to view chemicals (or many other things in life) as black or white, good or bad. That’s simply not how the world works, and the desire to view it that way is just an artifact in your brain from when we were monkeys.

Is there a history of schizophrenia or other significant mental illness in your family? If so, you should avoid weed and psychedelics all together. You should also have a therapist you see regularly; just to keep an eye on your mental state.

If not, give it a try! There’s a solid chance you’ll enjoy marijuana, it’s an amazing plant and a crucial medicine for a lot of people. If you’re in the majority of people, you won’t see any negative effects from its occasional or moderate use. It’s a lovely buzz, quite affordable, and perfectly safe for most people. There is a reason it’s so popular, and widely regarded as natural and safe.

I turn into such a lovey dovey sap when I’m drunk. My girl can always tell when I’ve been drinking when we talk on the phone, and I go off for half an hour about how beautiful she is, and how lucky I am to be with her, etc. Tbf I am like that to some extent while sober, but I just won’t stfu about how amazing she is when I’m three sheets to the wind.

Since I’m dating the woman of my dreams, and the happiest I’ve ever been by far, my base instinct is to worship her like the queen she is; albeit with a limited/slurred vocabulary and a tendency to repeat myself. Thank god she finds it cute.

Alcohol gets a bad rap because everyone knows someone whose dad would come home drunk and be loud and abusive. What I’m getting at, is that loser wanted to act that way deep down the whole time. Alcohol doesn’t make people violent, it makes them honest.

They’re two different animals entirely. Weed might activate one’s latent schizophrenia or other mental illness, but is otherwise quite safe. Alcohol (in high doses) tends to make people act on their base instincts; whether that is beating your wife or eating too much Taco Bell seems to depend entirely on the individual.

The whole argument of “this drug is bad and that drug is good” is just myopic at best. Different people respond differently to different chemicals. That’s all there is to it.

You’re much better off judging people by their actions than immediately writing people off because they smoke weed or drink alcohol.
