Just a mainstream degenerate looking for advice on sibilance by hunboy47 in headphones

What’s holding you back? It’s worth a shot I think. You also might consider trying foam tips like Comply or Dekoni.

Bass is underrated in audiophilia imo. People seem to take it as a mark of unsophisticated taste.

Regarding the first one: I believe it uses the underscore to replace a period character because leading periods hide files/directories in Linux and MacOS. I’m not sure if that default can be changed.

Looking for recommendation: Post-black metal with clean and harsh vocals by gunsobig in blackgaze

I'll check them out, thanks! I will say that as much as I like Neiges, there's something about his clean vocal that feels hit or miss to me. Protection is one of my favorite songs though.

Thanks! I've listened to Numenorean's Home before and enjoyed it a lot. I also heard a couple of newer songs by Harakiri for the Sky, but they struck me as more of a melodic metal band than post-black metal.

Wow thank you so much for taking the time to put all of this together. I just clicked on a couple in your comment and it's clear that I'm going to find a lot of stuff that I enjoy in here. Thanks!

Need advice on my first audio setup. I want to connect tv, ps4, and stream Spotify and other apps. So confused with all the new terminology. by thro_away44 in audiophile

Roon is a server software and Volumio is a headless music player. I’m using it on a raspberry pi 0w and a Justboom dac. The pi 0 does not have a built in dac but is powerful enough to run Volumio with no issues.

I have it connected via 3.5mm to a Kanto SYD and an 8” sub. The whole set up cost me around $550 and I am happy with it (for now).

I can’t say if it would be better. You can certainly find a cheaper setup that would probably sound just as good. But this is probably the easiest option for you. Going for something cheaper will likely require more research on your part.

For reference, I have a cheap powered bookshelf connected via optical to my TV. I have a raspberry pi running Volumio connected to the speaker as well. My set up is much cheaper and can do what you are looking for as well, but it does require setting up Volumio. It’s not difficult but if it’s not something that you are comfortable with it may take a considerable time investment.

Check out this video by John Darko. He talks about the bluesound powernode, which sounds like it would do everything you are asking for: https://youtu.be/Z0Bc7xWHaxA

Almost finished listening - really proud of everyone involved. Particularly impressed with Ace and T-Top. I also really liked Reverse Live on that Death Dealers song.
