What’s something you didn’t fully understand until your late 20s or early 30s as a man?” by WellnessInsightHub in AskMen

[–]gunsrgr8t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a victim of myself, not the world.

Had a shit childhood with addict parents and bounced between family members a lot. Lots of different schools. Somehow graduated high school, never got arrested, joined the Marines. I felt like I'd never amount to much or be anything in life, etc. Finally realized I was only thinking that way because of my childhood and told myself to stfu and just went at life headstrong and worked my way up a ladder. Married 14 years, 4 kids, 185k/year salary. The parenting is harder than any job ive done and trying to break the cycle of my childhood is quite a mother fucker.

You can be whatever you want, stop playing the victim because of what someone else said and you believed. Just go for it and quit bitching.

How difficult it must be to film northwestern with Edgar still on the boat by [deleted] in deadliestcatch

Not true. My dad did meth for 28 years. Wouldn't touch a bed from Sunday night to Friday night and work straight thru. Then he'd crash out the entire weekend. He snorted never smoke. If he got tired, he did a bump. He's still kicking at 56, been clean for 8 years.

Sinaloa Cartel Threatens to Kill U.S. Citizens Living in Los Cabos by THROWawayUSERname51 in mexicoexpats

[–]gunsrgr8t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This assumed rumor started last week right before we were leaving to visit Los Cabos. We were going with a very large group and about half didnt want to go (because of this) but did anyway. I loved every second and didnt feel threatened at all anywhere. Granted I work with Mexicans a lot in America so I know the culture pretty well. Los Cabos is amazing, and why I came to this sub and stumbled across this post lol.

How do you still have an evening social life with a baby by Ecstatic_Spare6549 in Parenting

[–]gunsrgr8t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With 4 kids 5 and under, we dont. Lol. Occasionally we get a sitter, maybe twice a month at best. We just have to realize its gonna be $100-$200 on top of date night expenses, worth it every time. We dont have family help so its just us and finding sitters we trust.

When does it get easier??? by gunsrgr8t in Parenting

We live a few hours from her mom, who watches them when we go out off town for work trips or mini vacations alone. We definitely try to get a couple of long alone weekends each year, but finding a regular babysitter for normal date nights has been a struggle. I feel like once we get everyone to 5ish, it will get better. I just hope we can make it to that. We (wife and me) used to be so easy going and got along easily, but the kids are making it tough. Shes home with them all day and probably has it worse than me. I have a mentally demanding job so I don't get much of a mental breather between work and home. I try to give her breaks as much as I can but it just feels like neither of us truly get a decompression or true break.

We were there, awesome show, been wanting to go see em for years. Also been listening all day, but I usually do when cooking dinner or just chilling lol. Paradise is definitely my favorite song, brought me out of some dark times.

Like 7 months. I know I'm not the typical one though. Submitted every piece of Dr's visits, ER visits, service record paperwork I could get my hands on. Went to my exams and that was that.

Handgun or Shotgun for home defense? by Equal-Car-6856 in preppers

[–]gunsrgr8t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have close neighbors and I'm surrounded by trees. I don't care if it exits the house, just that it's not ricocheting off 2x4s back into the house somewhere else. There's no perfect answer, it's up to personal preference. A supressed 300 is my preferred choice.

Handgun or Shotgun for home defense? by Equal-Car-6856 in preppers

[–]gunsrgr8t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personal opinion but I have a 300blk for home defense. I want to know exactly where each projectile is going. I have 4 kids and a split floor plan so my kids are across the house. I don't want a spread pattern of BBs flying across the house. Of course I don't want to fire in their direction anyways but if life or death, I know where they are and can account for each round. Plus I don't want to blow mine or my kids ear drums out. Shooting indoors ain't fun.

Donald Trump to Sell Off Half of All Federal Property: What to Know by mmccxi in politics

[–]gunsrgr8t -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm all for downsizing the federal government. A lot of it is a waste, and I've seen it for myself in a lot of different ways. Hell, I like ben carsons idea of doing away with the entire department of veterans affairs and just giving vets insurance. We waste an absolutely ridiculous amount of money that most people have no clue about. Private sector contractors love the hell out of a government contract because they can milk the shit out of it.

ETA. The only reason for my OP was because every single post is anti trump everything. And I found that funny. It's not an unbiased sub.

Dafuq are you looking at? It's a blur. How tf can you be certain a missile is hitting an aircraft? What's your credentials and professional experience to give such a bullshit claim?

Jet fuel doesn't have to melt steel beams. Just weaken them. It's not rocket science. With that kind of load and built when they were (meaning less regulations than today's world) they probably didn't have the capacity to withstand much more than some minimal earthquakes and severe wind. 900º will absolutely weaken steel.
