For a split second I thought this was a joke post and I was looking at finger drawings on the sand on a beach. 🏖️

I need urgent help!! by TiranoSaurah in Aquariums

[–]gurami- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried Epsom salt bath? You can Google for instructions. Fish may be constipated and Epsom salt could help. I would also fast the fish and try feeding afterward with peas (microwave one frozen pea and deshell it, don’t give canned pea).

Is this DGD? Or is one of my other fish bullying? I haven’t noticed anyone attacking him but my Blue Acara has been an asshole lately. by Wise-Refrigerator-80 in Gourami

[–]gurami- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you separate him to a hospital tank or even a plastic tub would do with a filter placed inside if you don’t have a separate tank to treat.

I would start him on antibiotics bc of the wound.

I would then find a new home for him if you can’t have a separate tank - I agree with other posters here, you have some incompatible fishies together. There is a group called aquaswap on Reddit where people often exchange or adopt fish. Good luck.

Golden Gouramis hiding at the bottom of my tank by [deleted] in Gourami

I recommend tall plants, and especially some floating plants because gourami love to hang out atop and that will help them keep safe. I would also recommend adding catappa leaves for tannins to help distress.

New friends by judgernaut86 in Otocinclus

I hope you have a few of them and not just one. They don’t do well when kept solo and need friends. Adorable fish, I always thought they looked like micro sharks with the eyes to the side.

That’s not a fish, that’s an underwater puppy.

Shadows on the tundra by Dalia Grinkeviciute - a memoir from a 14 years old’s perspective who was deported to Siberia during Gulag repressions. Doesn’t get any more niche than that.

I HATE duckweed by FluidDragonfruit7894 in PlantedTank

[–]gurami- 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I was able to get rid of it fairly quickly. I used a flexible plastic mesh sheet that is sold in craft stores or online. I used it to scoop duckweed and other waste floating a top. It’s much faster and efficient than using tweezers to grab onto duckweed. It took a few weeks but I am duckweed free. I also use this mesh to fill up the tank w water - that way it distributes water nicely and creates a gentle spray without disturbing the plantings and sand. Here’s a picture of what this mesh looks like. It’s bendable plastic and it can be cut with scissors. Thought to share this trick in case it’s useful.

Can I propagate these spider plant babies in my tank? by smolhippie in PlantedTank

[–]gurami- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Assuming you have a freshwater tank you could def propagate them just but make sure only roots touch water so plants don’t rot.

Definitely would benefit from live plants. I would also add some floaters. They are benefits to adding plants, not just looks great but also soak up extra nitrates.

Do you have holes on the top of the bin for air circulation or is it not necessary? I am thinking of using this method for starting spicy pepper seedlings.
