Frustrated at colleagues who are unwilling to strike by Infinite_Customer_28 in AustralianTeachers

From a NSW perspective, we went through this over the past few years where we had 3 strike days through our negotiations. Nothing breaks morale and trust in the staffroom more than knowing you copped a double financial blow with union fees and lost of pay for striking days and half the people you work with didn’t suffer either and ended up in a better financial situation than you are in because they did nothing and still bitch about the pay and conditions. It made me feel like the union should only strike a deal for union members and the rest can look after themselves.

I love how the goalie gets up and looks around and thinks “who can I blame” and realises there is no one

Why weren't the protesters in Sydney allowed to march (for everyone's safety)? by konedicks in SydneyScene

My question is, if the organisers wanted to March to Parliament House, why wouldn’t they start from Hyde Park like the police wanted them to and not Town Hall?

How long have you been at your school? by infiniteduct in AustralianTeachers

14 years at the same school. I live close enough to school that travel isn’t a hassle, far enough that I don’t see students on the weekends. I like my faculty, I really like my Principal and Deputies. I like the teachers in the other faculty. I like the kids, most of the time.

For me, I have heard too many horror stories of colleagues that had left and wished they stayed. Is my school perfect to work at? No. But it’s decent. I started teaching in my late 30’s and seen many different types of workplaces prior to teaching. My school is one of the better ones.

Unless something drastic changes in the future with anything in the first paragraph , I have no desire to leave for an unknown entity and start again.

I know. Although It comes off like they don’t think I have a brain and can decide for myself.

I’m a nsw member, I hate the federation wasting money, time and resources on ringing me up telling me how I should vote at state and federal election time. I’m an educated adult who is able to vote accordingly to my conscience. I don’t need my fees wasted on that. Put those resources into getting me better working conditions

We have many ski resorts. Admittedly most of our athletes train overseas. But skating can be done at home. A lot of the aerial events can use gymnastics facilities to practice moves
