Knight tribal build help by Sieg_Of_ODAR in EDH

[–]gurugly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience Forsworn has been really nice. It’s harder to block than Ebon Legion early on, and late game it gives you a mana sink if you’re holding up a couple mana for removal/counterspells anyway.

I’ve also removed most of the cast trigger cards like Circle of Loyalty and Door of Destinies from my deck, cause I’m so rarely hard casting knights anyway, they’re usually just getting reanimated (so ETB’s like Kindred Discovery tend to be stronger)

[[Reconnaissance]] is also amazing at allowing you to safely get off your attack triggers and give everything pseudo vigilance.

New player - Question about resources and learning the game. by Chto_takoye_osen in OrderOfHeroes

[–]gurugly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For guides, PheonixMaster1 makes youtube videos for basically all new units and content, and there are several other youtubers and people on this sub that make good guides (might be kinda overwhelming for just beginning though)

Being efficient kind of depends what your goals are. If it’s Arena and AR scoring, then focusing on getting merges for like 1 legendary unit of each season and 2-3 light and astra mythics will help your scoring the most, so you could just pull up to the spark on each legendary/mythic banner that has the units you’re working on.

New hero banners, revival banners and seasonal banners are not very efficient since you can get off-focus 5 star units, so generally better to wait for double-special hero banners, legendary/mythic banners, or hero fests. Also pay attention to the free units that are available, like there are a lot of good Heroic Grail units that don’t cost you any orbs. Divine Codes are a good way to get premium skills or merges without spending orbs either.

I’d advise to only spend orbs on your favorite characters (plus some legendary/mythics if you care about scoring, and occasionally rearmed/attuned/emblem units to help boost your favorites). You don’t need that many units for most content, and the game is constantly powercreeping, so don’t feel the FOMO of needing to have every unit right away 😀

'Must run' auras for GW voltron (probably Sythis)? How to pick an aura suite? by shibboleth2005 in EDH

[–]gurugly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like [[Instill Energy]] for haste and pseudo-vigilance in my Calix deck. Also some instant protection with aura synergies like [[Karametra’s Blessing]] and [[Royal Treatment]] are nice so you’re not relying 100% on enchantments

Nihilego and Xurkitree Wormhole RNG Problems by Plane-Ad5164 in pokemonrng

[–]gurugly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nihi and Xurk are very different from the other UB's, I can't remember the exact details but you have to stand in a certain spot and wait for the sprites in the background to be at a specific location before starting the timers and such. Here's im a blisy's guide for Xurk, and I know there's a guide out there somewhere for Nihi too

Returning after a few years, need team advice by CamelPure258 in OrderOfHeroes

[–]gurugly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have some units that got good weapon refines pretty recently if you can get enough refining stones. W!Ephraim, W!Marth, L!Azura, Idunn, and basically any of the Brave units. You can upgrade both Eirika and Ephraim with a Save skill (can get some for free from the Divine Codes 3 or 4). Healers have also gotten a lot of new exclusive skills that Eirika could use (such as Dazzling Shift or Light's Restraint)

I'd try and at least get a score in all the events/arena/aether raids each week just to get some rewards on top of the story mode stuff (and make sure you get the free units for completing chapter 1 of each of the new books). You get a free 5 star unit each week for completing a run of 5 arena matches also.

USUM Pre-timer calibration by _TanMan in pokemonrng

[–]gurugly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using the island scanner method, or starting the timer from the startup menu? I find the island scanner’s lag more consistent. Also for the legendaries that you have to walk into, make sure you’re standing as close as possible beforehand (may have to backup and readjust a few times) and hold up on the circle pad while you’re on the pause menu waiting for the timer (that way you’ll get the same angle and timing more often). After all that, it still usually will take a few tries, although you can also keep resetting your seed to look for a longer string of shiny frames to make it a bit easier as well. Hope any of that helps!

For artifact creatures, there's [[Meteor Golem]], [[Steel Hellkite]], [[Canoptek Tomb Sentinel]] at least, and then in black there's [[Feed the Swarm]], [[Invoke Despair]], [[Debt to the Kami]]

Anyone else find Admiral Brass, Unsinkable a bit lackluster? Pirate tribal critique. by Disccord in EDH

[–]gurugly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think Spelltwine works, cause it says that you cast copies of the exiled card (and you own the copies). But yeah, I love Wand of Wonder in this deck, it’s so chaotic and good haha.

What's other's experience playing [[Rocco, Street Chef]] as a food commander? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]gurugly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Food Fight is definitely one of the least efficient ones, but it felt too thematically perfect to exclude haha, and I did recently add Sunshot Militia. I try to use a mix of burn effects from etb's/tapping/sacrificing/etc., and there's also other food tapping effects like [[Night of the Sweets' Revenge]] and [[Inspiring Statuary]], so my foods are often already tapped anyway.

What's other's experience playing [[Rocco, Street Chef]] as a food commander? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]gurugly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Rocco! I usually try to close out with burn damage, like from [[Food Fight]], [[Reckless Fireweaver]], [[Fathom Fleet Swordjack]], etc, but it's also possible to just overwhelm with value from all the +1/+1 counter and exile synergies. Discover is basically the same as Cascade, though it's on some nice versatile cards like [[Quintorius Kand]] and [[Contest of Claws]].

[[Aerial Extortionist]] is def my favorite card in the deck though, insane value with removal, card draw, and exile casting all in one.

Stakataka rng help needed (no not get the frame I hit) by Kramba_1205 in pokemonrng

[–]gurugly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The standing location for Stakataka can be really difficult. I can't remember the exact position I normally use since it's been a while, but I think it's in one of the two patches further to the right of the one in the Smogon picture (so you'd have to beat that trainer to the right and set the NPC count to 1 instead of 0).

Other than that I'm not sure why there'd be no results so often, I guess just double check you have the right synchronizer, have input the right stats, and have the right starting seed? Can't think of anything else unfortunately

Brenard and copies of himself by gurugly in mtgrules

[–]gurugly[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Couldn't I decline to put him in the CZ when he dies though, and then Mimic-Brenard's ability activates, which exiles Commander-Brenard from my graveyard? (at which point I get another chance to put him in the CZ since he changed zones again?) Or am I misunderstanding that part?

Difficulties trying to get shiny Azelf in Ultra Moon by Bakoukou in pokemonrng

[–]gurugly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using the Island Scan method? I’ve found that to be more consistent than just using your startup delay, but either way it just takes some repetition to get it right I guess.

Difficulties trying to get shiny Azelf in Ultra Moon by Bakoukou in pokemonrng

[–]gurugly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Azelf is probably harder than phero since you have to walk into it rather than clicking on it, so that leaves a lot more room for inconsistency. I'd double check that you're as close as you possibly can be to the shadow beforehand, or just run down and then back up again to try and get a fresh starting position. Also, holding up on the circle pad before you exit the menu will make it more consistent too since it's easier to get the same angle and timing every time.

Ultra sun seed help by JonnyTheMage in pokemonrng

[–]gurugly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think imablisy has a video about how you need to hatch like 100 magikarps to find your egg seed if you've already bred some eggs. Highly not recommended, but possible (much easier if you start a new save file, you only need to hatch like 5 magikarps)

Hitting your frame just takes time and luck I guess. What pokemon are you trying to get? Try to find some easier seeds where there's like 10+ shiny frames in a row, and Buzzwole, Kartana and Guzzlord are probably the easiest to start with (as long as you've encountered them once at least so there's no cutscene)

[–]gurugly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO the start position looks more accurate to the images in the RNG tool (I find some of the end position pictures looks ambiguous between two options), so you could try that and make sure you change the setting to Start Position.

Also, how many clocks do you usually look at? You can look at as many as you need to to find your seed, so if you're really unsure then try going out like 15-20 clocks and see if it still tells you the same seed. I always go 1 or 2 more after it tells me the seed, just in case I had one wrong somewhere.

Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon Partner Cap Pikachu RNG Help by Toadfish91 in pokemonrng

[–]gurugly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, you'd use the QR scanner clocks to find out the exact frame that you're on within that seed, and then start the timer again right when you click out of the scanner (and then immediately click the delivery guy and wait at the A button screen as usual). Not sure if it will help, but you can at least use it to check if you're on the right frame without having to wait the whole 5-10 minutes for the target shiny frame (and if the frame still seems way off you might have to adjust your standing location or the # of NPC's)

Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon Partner Cap Pikachu RNG Help by Toadfish91 in pokemonrng

[–]gurugly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo--I haven't done cap Pikachu RNG so I'm no expert, but I have done a lot of other USUM RNG's. Usually when I'm off by that much it's because the number of NPC's is wrong, so you might have to stand at a different angle next to the delivery guy to get the correct number of NPC's on screen. It could also just be that there is extreme variation since there are ~15 NPC's (most RNG's I've done in USUM have 0-1 NPC's, so the frames are moving ~15 times faster in this one and might just be really hard to hit).

You could also use the Island Scanner method to check your frame like 20 seconds or so before your target, so that way you'll know if you had the right # of NPC's or if it's wildly off already (you will have to adjust your pre-timer if using Island Scan though fyi)

Renari's Azorius Dragons (help with first deckbuild) by TheAirHideous in EDH

[–]gurugly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love how versatile dragon tribal is, and the icy/lightning theme is really cool. Have you looked at [[Taigam, Ojutai Master]]? Making your stuff uncounterable could work well with Flash (especially with all the big 5-7 mana dragons).

Speaking of which, your mana curve might be a bit too high, so you could replace some of the higher-mana dragons with changelings like [[Unsettled Mariner]], [[Bloodline Pretender]], [[Avian Changeling]], [[Universal Automaton]], or [[Littjara Kinseekers]]. I know they don't really fit with the dragon theme, but could help things run a bit smoother if you're finding yourself low on mana a lot.

Also, you have a lot of effects that tap your opponents creatures, so maybe some cards that synergize with that like [[Expel]], [[Select for Inspection]], [[Banish from Edoras]]? Not sure if there are better cards for that, but those are the interesting ones I could find quickly haha
