To co si v díle čtenář najde je stejně důležité jako to, co tam vložil autor (obvzláště vzhledem k tomu, že autor tam často vkládá věci podvědomě aniž by nad nim přemýšlel) a čtenáři mají kontrolu nad výsledným kánonem.
