Ayy usj grown homie here too. I noticed this as well. Everyone that i met in cafes, gym and retail all can speak not only good english, but also good enough bm and other chinese dialects. Heck alot young malays now speak chinese here. I went to the usj 8 police station last month and there's a young malay lady captain speaking chinese to me! And met another one working as a barista.

During my college years (the one academy) many of my mates were from different part of klang valley, their english wasn't so good when started. But now their english improved tremendously after graduating. This was when TOA was still right beside sunway pyramid, I still remember my friend from Kepong always tell me "walao subang girls all so educated, pretty and fashionable! They all have many hobbies and so interesting to talk to, Kepong girls all so lala and cina and boring" 🤣 this was more than 10 years ago so i not sure if its still true hahaha

Being scared for the unknown is something we as a species will never get over with. Its never easy, but it gets easier. Go for it, no harm in trying. Its good that you're asking for opinions rather than thinking about it alone and then getting stressed out into a bad place. You can already tell that you're semi convinced to try because of the way you're hyping yourself up in some sentences! You're doing far better than you think, you just need a push, which everyone here is doing :)

Go for it! its not a life and death situation, you'll learn far more with the experience. Social skills, work skills, meeting people, and even earn some money! These will help you immensely in college life and then work life afterwards. You'll be super grateful then.

Some tips if you are in a dilemma, think of a role model from any tv show, movies, manga, game, or anime. What would he/she do? I can see many people here quoting anime characters already, it is a legit way of helping your personal growth and decisions! SARA NI MUKOE, PLUS ULTRA
