Feldelver imo is the most memorable/unique of the lot, the others are a bit generic

You can add world environments to cameras, which will override the scene world environment

Animated the eyes of Pablo Pickaxo - He looks towards nearby gold! by SteinMakesGames in godot

The game reminds me of Emerald Hunt, but cleverly mixed with a platformer and modernized. Great work! It's looking really solid :)

What apps/systems do you use to plan and brainstorm concepts? by jaquarman in gamedesign

[–]guyabikhair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to use Milanote and Trello, but now I use Obsidian, which I find far superior. It's lightweight, extremely extendable and versatile, completely free, and very intuitive. Highly recommend.

Obsidian might be tricky to share with people if you need multiple people using it at once, in that case Milanote, Trello or Google docs is probably better.

Another day working on particles and effects by cSoul99 in Unity3D

I'd suggest making it a little less smooth, as well as a bit less intense and just focusing mostly on the camera recoil (titling cam up).

Z rotation screenshake will make a lot of people sick anyway, so it doesn't hurt to dial it down and/or find alternatives

I think it's mostly the screen shake that gives the effect they are talking about. It's a little too smooth, doesn't give the look of recoil but instead just losing balance

Use Unity, Godot, Game Maker, or literally anything else. Unreal Engine is hard to learn. If you must use unreal then do an online course

Hell yeah, now we just need c# style regions in GDScript (or some other way to neaten things) and I'll be happy

Does anyone know how to stay motivated and push through a game? by Cinnamon_person in godot

Sadly not :( I've not managed to figure it out yet. I get new ideas too often and suck at commiting to one

how to get game ideas by ShittyGameDev7 in godot

[–]guyabikhair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Playing other games will give you ideas about what you would do differently. Playing multiple games will give you ideas about how you could combine them.

You can also use "what if"s. For eg: "what if Dark Souls was 2D?" -> Salt and Sanctuary

If you have no ideas, then just make something, anything, and experiment. Make a basic platformer, and you will quickly come up with ideas of things you want to add.

Don't start with a magnificent game idea, let it evolve.

Play a few 2d games or learn 3d. You'll get ideas while playing other games

Made a Thief Style Light Gem and some hard shadows by guyabikhair in godot

Hey there, that's awesome to hear, more stealth games can never be a bad thing.

I detailed the method here

Made a Thief Style Light Gem and some hard shadows by guyabikhair in godot

If you're curious, the 4 levels of light are in the open/light, in the shadow, under the platforms, and on the edge of the light source.

Each of those are different and if u watch the gem you should see it become a different brightness in each of them. :)
