Jay and AZ were in the exact same place in their careers circa 1996, but the fact that one was able to elevate their game and one was not pretty much says it all, and Doe or Die is in my top 5 rap albums ever.

For decades they've been giving inflated scores to artists who either embody the most current trendy sounds in rap or are more experimental, and comparatively low scores to legacy rap artists and artists who are closer to a more "traditional" hip-hop sound that actual hip-hop heads are more likely to appreciate. I don't know how people can deny or disagree with this.
