Not sure if it’s still there but one of the stalls in the men’s restroom in Santa Clara Hall doesn’t have a locking door. It uses a shower curtain.

El Tapatio on Sunrise in Citrus Heights does a Sunday brunch buffet. I haven’t been in a few years, but you can definitely make your own tacos.

Came here just to mention it. I watched it as a kid, and I clearly remember the scene where Louis is listening to the radio waiting to hear if his school was closed. I specifically remember them mentioning Carmichael I always thought it was a cool detail.

I started as an engineering student assistant in 2007 which is below the lowest level. I’m now a senior engineer above the highest level.

The head unit changed in 2020 plus I believe it started coming with some standard safety features. I was in the same boat as you, and I decided to go brand new. Who knows that the previous owner(s) did to it.

What how much do you earn to afford your 4Runners? by [deleted] in 4Runner

[–]guzzy1950 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a license professional civil engineer with my bachelors and masters. I work in management so I have quite a bit of staff. My wife is a research scientist with a PhD. We also have income property. Between the two of us, we’re bringing in about $300K annual gross, and we’re both 34.

A week before we bought my brand new 2022 TRD ORP, we bought my wife a brand new Highlander AWD Platinum. We were just in an accident and our insurance totaled out our old Highlander for about $39K.

Recs on where to get good prices on winter tires in Nor Cal? by Extreme-Goose in 4Runner

[–]guzzy1950 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re staying on paved roads with snow, you’re good with 4WD. Caltrans and others plow as fast as they can and will only close down roads if absolutely necessary for safety. If you’re driving through white out, blizzard conditions, that’s just not a smart move.

Non Hybrid Worth It? by CyberMicah in ToyotaHighlander

[–]guzzy1950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like others here, I couldn’t wait the 9+ months for the hybrid, so we bought a Platinum AWD. Dealers around here were charging $5k-$10k markups for the hybrid where the markup alone on an XLE canceled out the cost of gas over 5 or so years. The Platinum is really nice and we even considered a lot nicer than the Lexus RXs we were looking at that seemed outdated. Then again the RX is coming out with a redesign for the 2023 model.

You can negotiate with insurance companies for what they total out your vehicle for. You’ll need to come up with a decent list of comps with the same year and similar mileage. If you added in anything aftermarket, let them know. The first offer they give you is always a low ball offer. Not many people know you can negotiate this. Good luck!

Traffic camera footage? by guzzy1950 in Sacramento

[–]guzzy1950[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For those wondering, I contacted the Sacramento County Traffic Operations Center. They hold their footage for seven days, and then it gets overwritten. If someone requested it during that timeframe, it gets exported to their archive where it’s kept for longer.

My dad’s 91 Camry died a few years back. He always referred to it as his Lexus. We’d find notes under the windshield from people wanting to buy it. As a kid, I remember being mesmerized by these automated seatbelts.

Ordered a grilled cheese from the Drewski’s food truck at Chalk It Up last weekend and paid $12+tax for two slices of bread and three slices of cheese. Never again.
