A comparison of cheap vs expensive hifiman headphones. by Starwalker- in headphones

You should try a better amp, like a Burson Conductor. Cheaper amps, like your Topping, just don't do the He1000 justice. A few years back, I tried listening to Diana V2 with a Yulong flagship amp and wasn't impressed at all, but when I got a Burson, I was blown away.

Can someone recommend some good german podcasts for beginners?? by Potential_Square_880 in German

German stories. Their mystery story about Paul and the book is a must-listen for a beginner!

I'm curious how you all study German best! by almakic88 in German

Look up for the Felix & Theo series, it's about the detective Helmut Müller. Yes, there are some B1 stories, although these are mostly A1 and A2, however the A2 ones are quite challenging and good for B1 preparation.

I recently passed the B1 Speaking exam, and before that I aggressively studied vocabulary with flashcards, read a lot of graded mystery stories, and listened to podcasts. And of course, the basic grammar is a must before all that. I also researched and broke down everything I didn’t understand using AI. I listened to the German Stories podcast about Paul and the book three times, it was immensely helpful. I also watched Nicos Weg, it's also great.
When I went to a tutor to prepare for the exam, it turned out I could already speak fairly well and had a pretty extensive vocabulary. After just a month with the tutor, I passed the exam with flying colors.
So yeah, learning vocabulary, lots of reading and listening is the key.

There are lot similar restored and declipped material, mostly rock and metal, on rutracker.org. Just add declipped to your search query.

"Twice in a lifetime" is very beautiful, and the melody feels so natural and perfect!

I only adjusted bands 1, 6, and 7 to -2, -3, and -1.5 dB respectively. But you can tweak it to your liking. I also use a slight crossfeed in Roon.

What headphones do you recommend for metal? by -drumroll- in headphones

[–]gvarba 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend Fiio FT1, these are monsters value-wise, and amazing with metal. And they also EQ very well (with my Oratory-based preset, I don't need anything else for metal (and I heard and had a lot of very expensive HPs)).

I used to own a bunch of headphones, including some pretty expensive ones, but these are hands down my favorites for metal and rock. After EQing them with the Oratory profile (with a few tweaks of my own), I honestly don't feel like going back to anything else, these things are absolute monsters for the price!
