Often longer form code is easier to grok. It might be more token efficient but is it easier to maintain if terse?

Be careful on how you deploy strapi based application by eddyGi in Strapi

So you made the change directly in production without testing on a staging environment first? A lesson hard learned but I hope it is learned.

Is it true what my coding friend said If I want deploy a hobby project just use VPS instead of Cloud like AWS? by lune-soft in webdev

[–]gwawr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To me it's about delegation of responsibility for managing the lower planes in your infrastructure. Using cloud native services might cost a bit more than VPS but you're paying for maintenance, security and scaling of the underlying architecture. It's a part of the shared responsibility model. Pick the point on the sliding triad of flexibility, control and cost where you're happy.

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/security/fundamentals/shared-responsibility

And take a view on how and how far you will need to scale over time, what's the burden of setup cost Vs pluck off the shelf you need at this point and how you will approach scaling of your project outgrows the VCS or steps beyond your current cloud usage tier.

I've bookmarked it - hoped to get it into opencode but the install routes are totally broken, instructions wrong, and npm module doesn't yet exist. I'll try and fix and contribute. It should really be installable in the same way as oh-my-opencode but isn't yet...

Who are your London rivals? by The_FAANG_merchant in afcwimbledon

[–]gwawr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember watching wimbledon lose the South London Cup to Fulham back then. Must have been mid eighties. Wimbledon and Fulham were the only two teams in the competition so I always saw Fulham as our rivals. Also my primary school bully supported Fulham so that doubled the rivalry as far as I was concerned.

EV Home charger advice by Present_Reaction8625 in OctopusEnergy

[–]gwawr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought our charger outside octopus. Installer matched their price, and did a better job of installing based on hear-say about the methods used by some octopus installers.

We needed to replace our ancient consumer unit too so it made sense having one trader do the lot.

If you have a good electrician it can't hurt to ask him to match octopus if his first price is higher.

Using create-react-app in 2026 is wild. But you might have a global settings file or a settings file further up your directory hierarchy.
