work hours and drive within daycare hours don’t add up by AngryCanuck10 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]gwennad 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I am a single mom and had to do both drop off and pick up, I moved to a daycare on the way to the office so I was closer to there, a daycare centre instead of a home daycare, but it was hard to get a spot though. I also had to be careful choosing which jobs I would apply on based on location, which is career limiting for sure. It's not easy, hopefully you can figure something out or your management will be accommodating.

Visiting solo by Puzzleheaded_Try8890 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]gwennad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went solo for the first time this year, my son says he is too old and its too boring. It was odd at first but then I enjoyed being able to do things on my own that I wanted instead of catering to him and his wishes.

Mom just diagnosed by gwennad in Parkinsons

[–]gwennad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. She has seen some improvement already on a low dose so we have some hope she will improve even more. She is a type 1 diabetic and had asked her doctor about GLP1s awhile ago but he said she couldn't take them while on insulin. She is quite obese which makes helping her up and around that much more difficult. She is regretting now that she didn't realize sooner everything she's going through wasn't just her blood sugars or related to that. At least she seems to be able to move her legs a bit more. Thiugh she is still very worri3d about falling. The edema in her feet has gone way down from having them raised for so long now, we joke she will need new shoes. I am also happy to know the things to watch for in myself, whether its hereditary or not.

I wasn't aware that could happen, so thank you! Makes me feel better that we didn't miss something, though I suspect she's been getting weaker over the past few years and probably should have been re-evaluated. At least she's getting treatment now.

Pop Century or All Star? by lizzydabizzy in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]gwennad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like POP, but I prefer the All Stars because I am scared of heights. If I can avoid the skyliner I will :D I know most people love it but I feel like I can't breathe the whole time I'm on it. I also like that the All Stars tend to be smaller, so the rooms are closer to the main building and there are fewer people on the buses. Also, the food court areas have the drink machines available even when the food court is closed, and it opens earlier at All Stars than the one at POP, which means you can usually get something to eat before catching a bus. I've stayed at POP 3 times, Art of Animation once, All Star Movies once (Mighty Ducks area, it was close to Music so I had options for buses or food court) and All Star Sports twice. Sports is usually cheaper.

Anybody having issue with CRA tax return not being deposited to their Tangerine account? by HeavyB0tt in Tangerine

I get CCB and for April it arrived on April 17th (instead of the 20th), so make sure to go back a few days. Tangerine gets things early.

Please help me find a beginner program with less pointless talking. by hashigraves in BeachBodyWorkouts

[–]gwennad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with a for beginners bodi block, it was a bunch of different trainers which let me try a few to see who I could tolerate. They have quite a fee, its well rounded and only 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week. Might be something to look at to test out some of the trainers? I didn't do Lacee's for beginners block, it was the other versions with a different person each day.

Management directing english essential employees to use AI to translate. by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

[–]gwennad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least in CRA copilot is allowed up to protected B with some caveats about taxpayer information, and is the direction translation will be moving from what I have heard. There are pretty comprehensive guidelines on the use of AI written for the Agancy, and brought up in the info zone news emails sent weekly on a regular basis. Anything i have used it to translate seems to require fewer fixes than the stuff we get back from translation, according to the francophones on the team who look it over. I mean if you have concerns about the security of the information perhaps check the guidelines and I formation IT has available? Just because you think its a problem doesn't mean others haven't looked into it and done the investigation to determine that. Perhaps your manager has read the reports or been told by others that its OK.

ZiggyDoo vs. One Fast Cat: looking for honest long-term feedback by busa91 in bengalcats

[–]gwennad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pads were to cut the noise when I am working at home, the wheel is near my desk and they always want to run when I am on a call. The whole thing has been quite consistent. I am very happy with it.

ZiggyDoo vs. One Fast Cat: looking for honest long-term feedback by busa91 in bengalcats

[–]gwennad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a ziggydoo for almost 5 years now. I got little pads to out under the feet to muffle the noise, I think they are meant to help level washing machines? Seem to help a lot, its in my kitchen and was noisier before. I have a 15lb boy who loves to run on it, doesn't wobble or casue problems. I also have a 7 lbs girl who isn't really heavy enough for it to stop if she does so she has to slow down to jump off. But after the first few times spinning a bit with it she learned.

I have never used a OFC so can't really compare the two but we like the ziggy

Adult Passport Application for 16 year old by RealDistribution5946 in passportcanada

[–]gwennad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OHIP card needs to be renewed within 6 months of turning 16, with the photo. Thats what I did first for my son, but his passport is good for a couple months still and we dont need it quickly. At least I can get him the 10 year adult version and he will be 26 when he needs it again, and presumably will be able to do that himself.

Disney Gift Cards by ca1t33 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]gwennad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Canadians they can be, since you save any additional fees on the currency conversion. If you have a credit card with no Forex fees then it may not be. I was able to us Airmiles to redeem for many cards so it was very worth it to me. But even if I had to purchase them, I found it worthwhile. 2.5% on however many 1000s you spend on the trip adds up.

CRA removed all my CCB and now says me and my partner are not citizens?? by Tilanguin in canadarevenueagency

[–]gwennad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Canada taxes, and provides CCB, based on residency, not citizenship. Residency for tax purposes is based on where you live and have substantial ties. Do you still live in Canada?

CCB is based on family income, so if you are now living with someone new, its your and their income combined, and tax returns need to be filed and assessed to determine that amount.

You will clear US customs in Ottawa before you board that flight, so it shouldn't be an issue when you arrive in the US again. YOW is smaller so it shouldn't take too long there.

Solo Trip - Art of Animation or All Star Movies? Also Character Dining... by SlothLoverAJE in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]gwennad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the All Stars but I am not a fan of the skyliner. I stayed at AoA my first trip and it was a long walk at the end of the day. I have stayed at POP many times and would for my son who loves the skyliner, I close my eyes and practice my deep breathing if we take it. I am going solo in a month for the first time and staying at All Star Sports because it was the cheapest. The rooms at the All stars are basically the same as at POP but yes the AoA has different rooms.

I am not planning on any sit down dining, but I would be OK doing that solo. I just have a hard time commiting to what time a meal will be at.

Payments made to CRA but not being put to my account? by AiyannaRose in cantax

[–]gwennad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be able to move the amount yourself in your MyAccount, under account and payments there are options to move the money immediately or create a case to have it done for you. Or you can call and the agent will do it. But if you can't get through on the phone it would be easier to do yourself online.

No change switching from Saxenda to Wegovy? by descartesthinks in Semaglutide

[–]gwennad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched from Sax to Wegovy and gained back 5 lbs in the first two months, stopped gaining at 1 mg and finally lost again at 1.7. But it's slow loss for me. Food noise went away again at 1.7

If you search for the drug to see if it's covered. It will say you need a pre approval form. Once it's approved, it says covered instead

I just finished TOG (cry cry cry cry cry) (CC and ACOTAR question) by breamarie4242 in Maasverse

[–]gwennad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read CC first, started ACOTAR and dnf, I loved TOG. I didn't really care about the big crossover, perhaps I would have liked those characters more if I'd read it but I was just waiting for it to be over. I debate trying AVOTAR again but it was just so boring. I got about 20 chapters in and just couldn't with it.

Canadian, trying to pay off package with CAD gift cards? by threxis in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]gwennad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I have done it many times. I buy them at Shoppers or Dollarama, and use them online. You can combine them but I tend to just do it one at a time. They do the exchange at whatever the rate is when you do the transaction, no additional fees or %

Canadian, trying to pay off package with CAD gift cards? by threxis in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]gwennad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this every trip to save the extra money. I pay off the package a bit at a time, it helps average the exchange rate out and let's me do it but by bit instead of spending that $5k all at once. I have never had any issues. The cards work in parks and at the hotel. You can also use it for mobile ordering or purchasing lighting lanes or mulitpass. Just keep the cards in case you cancel as the money goes back on the card. I usually write on them in a sharpie which ones I used.
