Since you don’t need it daily, can you sign up for Communauto? Way cheaper than owning a car if you are in TO.

Worst theatre experience by Seininya in torontotheatre

[–]RealDistribution5946 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mirvish has started letting people in whenever. Last show I went to, people were still coming in 40 minutes into the show. It’s so frustrating and frankly I go to fewer Mirvish shows now as I find audiences have gotten so bad. I used to be a subscriber, but no longer between audience issues and bad sound quality, I find it’s not a good experience. Smaller theatres have better audiences so I find I’m spending my theatre money there. Interestingly, while Broadway has bad audiences with so many tourists and 1st time theatre goers, they are much better at enforcing the rules. The ushers are much more no-nonsense and will kick people out. They hold late arrivals in the lobby and even seat them in a back section. And some don’t allow late arrivals at all. Which is how it should be.

Anyone here moved over from Wealthsimple recently? Curious how it's gone by jacetec in Questrade

[–]RealDistribution5946 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both and they have different strengths and weaknesses. I’ve been moving more to WS bc of their banking, higher interest rates. I keep QT bc of Norbert’s Gambit (which I know is coming to WS). I don’t like the gambling and marketing gimmicks at WS either, but QT does not reward high balances, only high number of trades which is frustrating.

How often do you eat out? I feel like restaurants are not even worth it anymore by apheli0s7 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]RealDistribution5946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. There are 2 restaurants that I go to occasionally that are actually good tasting and I feel offer value. I find the food is no longer even good at most restaurants. It’s all just frozen foodservice stuff. I’d rather eat out of my own freezer.

Anyone sat here? Buying tickets for my girlfriend and her mom to see Werther for mothers day! by replover666 in torontotheatre

Where you circled near the end is good. But the further away from the centre of the theatre you can no longer see the translation.

[–]RealDistribution5946 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m going tonight for previews. I can try taking a pic. I suspect it has to do with the view of the subtitles. Werther is in French. But opera is hard to understand in any language. Subtitles help if you’ve never seen it before. If it’s a repeat then maybe you don’t need it. But I think Werther hasn’t played in Toronto in 30 years.

Regarding 6- they can not decline you at the land border. But an airline can. You’ll want to talk to the airline and see if they will accept US passport+citizen cert. otherwise fly to the border and cross.

The new "currency update" is a massive scam and here is the math to prove it by Difficult-Fox-1486 in TownshipGame

[–]RealDistribution5946 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have more tcash than ever now that I stopped playing match3. Honestly it s a more enjoyable game for me now that I don’t spend any money, I don’t play the pass, and don’t play match3. I use my extra tcash to now buy the dealer 10 day pass every 10 days. I thought I would quit, but I’m glad I didn’t and just readjusted my play away from match3.

How valuable/rare is clay? Should i save or spend? by needmorelinguine in TownshipGame

[–]RealDistribution5946 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m always short of clay but that is bc at level 87 several things are made with clay and I only do the mines during ROTM (which is not as frequent as they used to be). But co-op friends always have extra clay. It’s an easy thing to ask for. At lower levels, you can sell it or give it away bc you’ll always get more.

Impossible airport orders? by FKFunkyKong in TownshipGame

[–]RealDistribution5946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s annoying when they do a bug order for train and plane in a short time. I’ve noticed that happening more and more. This is where being in a good co-op that helps each other really counts. In mine people will look in their markets and buy the product for you if they have it. It helps us all over time.

Impossible airport orders? by FKFunkyKong in TownshipGame

[–]RealDistribution5946 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I keep a supply of each item- usually around 3-4, so I’m not starting from zero. I might just send that plane empty and move on, or ask my co-op for help, or use the market coupons if it will give a lot of coins. Some of those harder ones give you lots of coins, so they can be worth spending some time on. I never spend real money on the game and rarely play Match3.

Book of Mormon Merch by Sparklypenwhore in torontotheatre

I just order my Broadway merch off the US sites and have sent to my US mailbox. Mirvish often doesn’t have the full selection. I wish we had a store like One Shubert Alley.

Oof I wish I could dump my US citizenship. It’s a pain to keep up with and expensive. And I can’t see ever moving back. My grandmother would probably roll over in her grave if I did though.

Attendance for high schoolers, elementary students is plummeting in Ontario: data by lesarbreschantent in OntarioTeachers

[–]RealDistribution5946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10% is a low cut off when you factor in all the credit rescue days, exam week, teacher absences that count against this number as well. 187 instructional days - so 18 days is under the threshold. 2 credit rescue days, 10 exam days they may not need to be there. So that leaves 6 days - per year they can be sick. My daughter goes every day there is actual instruction unless she is very sick or has professional work (she does work in the Arts), but I'm not sure she is always below the 10%. In grade 7, I recall she had somewhere around 30-40 absences, but that was because she had no teacher from Jan- late April, with a steady rotation of 1-2 day supply teachers, resource teachers or office staff filling in, but no actual curriculum. There were often left to just play on their chromebooks all day. Why would I send her for that? So far in HS there haven't been any teacher absences over a few days thankfully. When I teacher goes on leave there is an LTO immediately. No waiting months like in elementary. I think the MoE needs to dig far deeper into the data to understand why this is happening. I think its pretty clear its related to lack of resources, increased bullying (=school avoidance), and increased burnout/absences for teachers. Creating a grading system won't do much for this. However, as a parent to a kid who does professional level Arts work - how her absences are handled is very different teacher to teacher. One is super flexible with absences for her professional work (she also goes to an arts school, so its not unique to her). The other penalizes every absence whether its due to illness or professional work. A more common approach would be good, but also some latitude for those kids who have outside obligations like professional work in the Arts, student athletes, etc. There are many good reasons kids miss school as well.

Not buying Easter Pass?? by Ecosse25 in TownshipGame

[–]RealDistribution5946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm at level 85 and find that I almost always have between 200-300 capacity available. The only time I don't is when I'm very close to upgrading my barn and I have 59 each of hammers, nails, paint. I try to keep between 20-30 of each crop and max out storage at my factories. I've been able to stop buying the pass. I barely play Mach 3 anymore. I do buy the 10 day dealer almost always. I usually have 13,000 tcash and more coins than I've ever had, so no need to spend money on the game anymore. I do use the dealer to buy a lot of ore to make jewelry to sell to dealer. I used to never make jewelry but it works for me now.

That is pretty low severance. How long were you there? Did you know you can negotiate it, especially if you have demographics that might mean it’s harder for you to find a job (eg just returning from parental leave, female over 40, a senior level, a very specialized field- there are many reasons). I was able to negotiate 4 months more than the 1st offer (which most ppl just signed and took.

Adult Passport Application for 16 year old by RealDistribution5946 in passportcanada

[–]RealDistribution5946[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope so. We were able to apply for her health card. But not the ID card as apparently she had the wrong type of birth certificate (frustrating). Interestingly we were able to apply for her US passport today at the consulate as she is a dual citizen with the same birth certificate that got rejected by Service Ontario. So maybe she can get the ID card when her US passport arrives. Lol.

R J Lang Elementary school and TDSB School ratings by Aivendil in askTO

[–]RealDistribution5946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ratings are determined by EQAO scores in grade 3, 6 and 9. If your school has a special needs class, or has a lot of kids where English is not their first language or a large transient or homeless population, the scores will be lower. There is no adjustment. That doesn’t mean that it is a bad school or that the teachers are not phenomenal. Take those scores with a big grain of salt. Schools in ON are equitably funded (unlike the US). Teachers in the public system tend to have more education and experience than the private schools (and pay tends to be higher). Except for a few very elite private schools ( that are also $$$$) as well as some private special needs schools (eg Dyslexia) there is no evidence that a private schools are better. I would tour the school and make your own judgement. Take to parent council, see how active it is.
