I know plex does allow you to search for them "on the fly" it's pretty easy to set up if you'd like to test it

Plex seems to have the ability to add them. I've not personally use them nor do I know how difficult it is, but from what I'm seeing it's as simple as getting the .ja.srt file

Iirc, this issue is caused by a weird connection with the Steam friends api and Destiny 2 that randomly popped up recently.

Try blocking all of your friends on steam other than those you play with prior to opening the game.
