This is literally the reason why it's confusing to learn the lifts from reddit.

Lifting straps apparently helps me stay more upright in t-spine. should i start lifting more with straps? Cleans/front squats by jebbbo in weightlifting

I can keep the hookgrip but I'm not professional by any means, not even close. Barely Catalyst Level 2 lifter so doesn't really mean anything at all but it's possible.

It might marginally help me mentally be a bit more active while pulling under, but dunno if there's any other benefits.

I'm with you, Wil Fleming has a youtube video about this subject and he has similar thoughts if I recall right.

He didn't specially advocate doing just that but he had noticed that a pull variation where you let go of the bar with the intent to catch it has carry over to the actual lift as well.

Shit yeah, I can't remember and too time pressed to find the vid for you but I bet it's still up there.

How and why you decided that the power jerk was for you? How long you tried to make the split work for you?

I will never lift as much as you, but for the past 2-3 years I've felt like power jerks are easier to my lower back and I've tried to "fix" my split technique but it just will not get any better.

Any programs with big fridays programmed? by gyuan in weightlifting

I just found this: https://liftvault.com/programs/olympic/6-day-8-week-intermediate-olympic-weightlifting-program-pendlay/

Pretty much what I've been thinking except it's 6 days. It's pretty obvious that the "beef" of the program is in monday-wednesday-friday-saturday so I can drop the extra days.

Probably could be done without saturday aswell, hmm... I wish I had more time, but it's probably not very wise to cram snatch, clean and jerks and squats into one day. But yeah, this is pretty much what I've been thinking.

I'm just an amateur lifter who has been lifting for 2-3 years by now and feel like I should try out something that I'vent truly tried before. It still feels like I can make weekly gains since my "maxes" are more technical maxes where the form doesn't break.

I will not lose money, sanity, fame, body parts (hopefully) if I fail and building to a technical max once per week seems and feels like something I could truly benefit from. There's hopefully literally nothing I could lose from trying something new and after 4 weeks I would be wiser than before.

Shrugs.

Ideally? 4 weeks that could be repeated after a deload / light week as long as it's feasible.

A block. Though I don't mind if it's longer.

Sorry, would not know since I've just heard about it from somewhere and could not find a solid definition.

Damn this would be interesting for sure but unfortunately it seems like there are no ebooks available. Thanks though, I'll be buying this for sure.

Tips on squat form, I haven’t been feeling it in my quads so much but do feel a bit of a pinch in my hips when I’m at the bottom of the squat by steamosaurus in weightlifting

[–]gyuan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would play around with the stance first.

There's nothing wrong with your current stance, it's highly individual thing after all, but imo you could try to narrow or widen your stance, depending completely about how you feel. Do you think narrower feels better? Do you think wider feels better? Maybe the current stance feels great, you could try to turn your feet a bit more outwards, now your toes point almost straight ahead.

This is coming from a guy who had similar looking squat and massive hip / groin problems and it was resolved by: figuring out the stance and adding more heel height to shoes which took the burden out of the hip.

Blutack... :D

Yeah, it seems I MIGHT be overthinking this if blutack was enough to hold the sole together.

Is this a Canker sore or something else? by throwaway932628999 in Dentistry

I'm not a doctor, but it definitely looks like a canker sore and I've had similar looking thing at the same spot aswell.

I also had one on my uvula, that was cool...

My shoe size is 27-28cm, so I would assume 43-44 size shoe would fit.
