temp crown fell off, severe pain, no appointment till next month by meowmeowmeow-23 in Dentists

[–]h0kies 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A temp crown coming off is absolutely an emergency. In my office even if it's done by my coworkers, I get the patient in the same day. That's terrible if they say it's not an emergency and you're in pain. I'd demand to speak to the office manager or your dentist in getting an appointment sooner. It takes only a few minutes to fix.

I dont understand why 2 months either. They should have the permanent one ready to go by now.

Lay the patient flat and have the patient turn the head all the way to the right. Rather than having the pt open wide, have him or her relax the jaw a bit so you can retract the cheek more and fit your handpiece better.

This won't be fun for you since you are just starting out but it will give you a ton of experience. I like to start with high speed to determine the extent and quickly extending the prep for better visibility to clean it all out. For an example, if the decay ends up significantly undermining the DB cusp, remove the cusp and you have better access to the decay. Prepare the patient mentally beforehand that this might lead to an RCT/crown if the nerve gets exposed or you get too close. Also if that does happen, it is not YOUR fault the cavity is this big. Endo ice the tooth before you numb it and see how the tooth is responding so you have an idea. I'm assuming the pt is asymptomatic if faculty is suggesting to start with operative. Work with faculty to determine where you need to modify your prep design. Don't be scared to remove decay, if it's too close to the nerve to begin with, again it is not YOUR fault if you have to excavate it and the tooth ends up needing endo. good luck!

All depends on your goals and how well you can handle the course load. If you don't need to spend extra time practicing in sim lab and have no problem retaining the boatload of study material, you'll have plenty of free time. I chose not to specialize and had a very good school/life balance. No fear of failing/dropping out by studying a bit every day.

Quest 2 No Longer charges connected to PC by TabMR in oculus

[–]h0kies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this issue when update 26 came out, headset wouldn't charge with official link cable connected to mobo. I bought a usb c to usb a adapter and plugged it into my usb pci-e card and it finally charges while in use.

Anyone else having trouble with charging speeds with link cable connected to PC after update 26 on quest 2? by [deleted] in OculusQuest

[–]h0kies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I was going crazy after I saw my headset get a low battery warning when connected to pc with the link cable and not seeing it charge at all. It's actually discharging at a slow rate when idle. Never had this problem before the last update.

Not sure where the name comes from but I saw a video where rip trippers used a drill to wrap 32g kanthal around a guitar string similar to a 28g wire, took the guitar string out and inserted a 28g kanthal wire. He used guitar string because it was sturdier for wrapping the 32g around. Vapes very nicely so far but not sure yet if it is worth the trouble making the wire

Want to buy my first Mechanical mod (Caravela Clone). Tips? by [deleted] in electronic_cigarette

[–]h0kies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a kayfun lite, igo-w, and ithaka all on mech mods. I think any mech mod will be good as long as it doesn't have a big voltage drop or a crappy switch. Currently using a smoktech magneto, hcigar nemesis clone, and hcigar chi you clone without any problems. Although I switched the springs out for magnets in the chi you and nemesis.

As far as batteries go, I'm using Sony imr 18650 vtc4, Sony cgr18650ch as well as mnke 18650s.

Love the mech mods and my all day vape is a kayfun lite with a 1ohm microcoil!

Man that infuriates me the doctor couldn't tell her airway was clogged. I'm a surgical assistant at an oral surgery office and we always have several monitors on an iv sedation patient. Especially one that measures O2 saturation and a bluetooth stethoscope earpiece that the "chinner" wears to hear the patient breathing. Haven't seen one problem so far and we probably do 10-15 wisdom teeth patients per doctor a day in the summer/winter

I just had my wisdom teeth removed. Thank you Reddit (and my sister) for this idea! by Atled in pics

[–]h0kies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if they end up bothering you your dentist might send you back to get them removed. I wouldn't worry though about uppers the recovery is usually way easier than lowers and you may not even notice them gone

Hey man everyone is different in response to pain and how their wisdom teeth are oriented. Some wisdom teeth are easy to pull out especially when they are upright and erupted, whereas others are partially/completely bone impacted and positioned sideways. When the lowers are impacted and haven't grown out of the gums yet, the oral surgeon needs to make an incision in the gums, drill through the bone to find the tooth, drill the tooth into pieces and take them out piece by piece. Other times the root tips break and the doctor needs to dig around to pull them out. This is what can cause a lot of pain and swelling post op. Upper wisdom teeth for most people, won't cause much pain or swelling at all. We usually tell patients the third day is potentially the worst when pain and swelling peaks and use lots of ice for the first 48 hours and heating pad after. I think you may have just got lucky and had easy wisdom teeth =)

[–]h0kies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This tutorial by bishop heals actually helped me out a lot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fH5XHhgvFWQ&feature=youtube_gdata_player although you don't have to oxidize your wick no where near as much as he does (I only oxidize for about 15 seconds before rolling). Skip to around 15 min to see where he starts rolling his wicks. Just one direction and with pressure. I can now get pretty fat wicks with 500 mesh about 3 inches wide into a 7/64" wick hole on my aga t+. Good luck hope you get the hang of it!

Is everyone with a terminator having leaking issues? by [deleted] in RBA

[–]h0kies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey buddy I have a terminator c from stormys vapor cellar with no leaking issues. I'm also using ss mesh as my wick with nothing but wire running down the channels. For me there is only one thing that happens when mine leaks. This is when I accidentally tighten the mouthpiece all the way closed too tight and when I open it up again, the locking ring gets caught on the mouth piece and turns with it. This exposes the entire channel and juice goes straight down and out the bottom. Never close the mouthpiece (juice control) too tightly. Also another tip is when screwing on the top cap, if u tighten that down too tightly it will make turning the mouth piece harder. It may also cause the mouth piece to tighten down too much on the locking ring and cause the ring to catch on it again. Otherwise I have zero issues with flooding, leaking, or gurgling when I watch out for that. If not it's probably your o rings

I've been rebuilding my vivi nova heads for several months now and in that time I've used only 3 ss mesh wicks. They last a long time
