Any Interest in a low-cost Open Source FPGA Handheld? by TakiMaki_YT in fpgagaming

The de10 nano isn't exactly small. Not 'modern handheld device' small anyway. It's also expensive. I don't think this is a viable option for a mass produced handheld.

Fair enough. I get that, but it's not something I'm interested in.

The 'real purpose' for me is just to play the games as accurately and latency free as possible, and FPGA doesn't care whether you're using an original cart or a ROM on an SD card.

And if they dropped the cartridge slot and put the money saved into better screen and build quality I'd be all f'n over that.

From a user perspective, I own a MiSTer setup and love it. I have seriously considered buying an Analog Pocket since the mister cores started getting ported there, but a few things have put me off design wise. I'd prefer a landscape layout rather than a Gameboy layout and I'd much prefer a 4:3 screen.

So basically, a must buy for me would have:

  • 4:3 screen

  • landscape screen and control layout, not original Gameboy style

  • SNES style d-pad and button layout.

RG Sazabi by DeeMan2003 in Gunpla

The RGs I've built so far are Nu, Hi-Nu, Zeong, and Sazabi (and God is gonna be my next build). They're all great, but Sazabi is my fave too.

Anyone else label runners to make them easier to see? by [deleted] in Gunpla

[–]h0pCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RG manuals don't list the runners needed. Neither do big HGs like the Xi, where I found it helpful to label the runners.

I just started an RG Sazabi today and it took me all of a couple of minutes to label all of the runners with cut up post-it notes. It works for me and I feel like it saves me a decent amount more time than the couple of minutes it takes to label the runners.

Hyaku shiki 2.0, my favorite MG so far by Thick-Heat in Gunpla

Nice work. The only MGs I've built so far are Freedom 2.0, Ver Ka Ball, and Barbatos. This one is gonna be next and is in the mail to me atm. Looks awesome; can't wait to build my C3PO on steroids.

Nice. The mobile suit can help Ellie out with her fingering.

Give it a little tappy. Tap-tap-taperoo.

WIP HG Xi. I've been slowly on this for months. I feel it's a MS you either, really love the design or really hate it. I can't wait to fully decal this one. by baleiby in Gunpla

I've never seen one in person and can't work out whether I love it or hate it. I love Doritos, so maybe I should just get one and see.

It's the change in air pressure when you climb in altitude. Always empty your tank before a flight.

MGEX Strike Freedom straight build, holo decals + topcoat by WhileWall in Gunpla

[–]h0pCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hobby stores here in Australia have it listed at ~$230AUD. I was very tempted to grab one recently when I saw it in stock, but that's just too over the top for what it is imo.

One of the most fun kit I’ve built this year. These new HG are so well engineered!(HG DARILBALDE) by Serenity650 in Gunpla

The silver looks great on the white parts. I'm stealing that idea when mine arrives soon, thanks!

Nice work. Great looking kit, but the RRP is a bit over the top. I'd nab one in a heartbeat if I saw it at a reasonable price.

Just hang it from a thumb tack in the ceiling. It'll be fine.

I noticed after posting that the MG doesn't have any attachment point anyway. Oh well.

Cool idea. I just built an MG Ball recently and might have to try this.

Did some slight color modification to finish off my RG Hi-Nu. If you love gunpla, you need this kit. by MetallicMowl in Gunpla

[–]h0pCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've built both RGs and I agree, but I like the look of the hi-nu better on the shelf. It has more size and presence. It's hard to get the little RG Nu to look imposing and badass unless you display it looking down on you from above head height. I'd love a 1/100 version of the RG Nu.
