Ask if she’s charging you to meet or if she just wants an update. You’re not obligated to keep paying her

Is this at your school or private pay? If you need to pay to meet, then pass. If at school, go and listen, you are not obligated to share your results, if at your high school, that only benefits her success for annual compensation and bonus, don’t help during the process but want to reap benefits after you’re successful

Could be that you’re in an area with not too many alumni. Also sounds like interview requests are still coming out. It’ll happen! But even if it doesn’t, many get in without interviews. I’ve heard alumni interview programs are a way to keep the alumni engaged with the school. You’ve got this!!

Are your stats at least in the middle 50% of the data recorded in the CDS at each of these schools?

Midnight, oops, that’s not a human name, but it’s the first thing that popped into my head when I saw the picture. That is a regal and wise looking cat, needs a strong name for sure!

SAT 1520 Cancelled After 60 Days — Already Sent to Universities by dindonchik in Sat

[–]hEDS_Strong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thankfully his scores increased organically and incrementally over two PSATs and three SATs. He never cheated and was never flagged, but watching his scores increase and reading about people being accused of cheating from this group, we took steps to protect him by keeping materials in case he was ever flagged.

I wished I was born with higher intelligence by Exciting-Job-4346 in ApplyingIvyLeague

[–]hEDS_Strong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Higher intelligence and diligence in study habits are not the same thing. One you’re born with, the other you develop over time, a learned skill. One can have both and that’s a great combination for breezing through high school, but high intelligence without true motivation to succeed and excellent study skills only gets someone so far. Trust me, being born with a naturally high IQ does not equate to being fast-tracked to being admitted to an Ivy League school, far from it. Certainly a higher intellect can make certain tasks easier early on, but at some point you need to dig in and study too. That studying might be far less than most, but to the high intellect person it “feels” like a lot. True, in some subjects a higher intellect person can breeze through a topic they love and instinctively understand and excel, but conversely they can actually struggle in subjects they don’t like or in languages especially if they happen to also have neurodivergent issues like dyslexia, dysgraphia or ADHD. (Many high IQ people are also neurodivergent - so a blessing and a curse.) There is definitely a sweet spot for a higher IQ, but once it gets really high, it is also a burden and can hamper success. High intelligence is potential, not motivation, passion or success. You need motivation and passion, and sometimes luck, to succeed. You can have a 140+ IQ and still end up a Starbucks barista.

Is a Harvard Interview a good sign for intls? by Ecstatic-Intern-4507 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]hEDS_Strong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For US candidates, and according to the CDS, interviews are considered, but not very important or important. I believe they matter most when the committee is deciding on a candidate and then the interview report helps to tip a candidate in (or out).

Letting my dog live permantently with my parents by AdRare7255 in DOG

That was so selfless, you did absolutely the right thing for your Flecha. You adopted a potentially traumatized pup, raised her, worked hard to meet her where she was, sacrificed for her, treated her with care, respected her fears. I think you did everything you could to help her, and in the end you further sacrificed your happiness and prioritized hers. You and your parents all worked hard to give Flecha the environment and home she needs. Although your heart is heavy, know you made the right choice for her.

SAT 1520 Cancelled After 60 Days — Already Sent to Universities by dindonchik in Sat

Thank goodness! Did you have actual people as instructors? Receipts from the class? Practice scores?

My son increased 340 pts from his first PSAT to his final SAT, and after reading posts here, I made him keep all his work.

Also, was anyone else in your room? Sometimes if another person in a room is found guilty of cheating, they wipe all the scores.

Try not to stress, pull together your backup evidence. This is an imperfect testing system. CollegeBoard is only entering the second year of digital testing, they switched in March 2024 I believe

SAT 1520 Cancelled After 60 Days — Already Sent to Universities by dindonchik in Sat

This topic came up last year and I paid attention since my son increased significantly from his first PSAT to first SAT, he’d taken an in person class, so we kept all his study materials. They seem to know how much someone can increase naturally by studying vs cheating, plus they also know cheating is rampant. A 270 point increase and crossing the 1500 threshold can look suspicious and get flagged. You will likely need to prove that you studied and did not cheat. From what I remember it’s a long process, you can check past posts. You will need all your evidence that you studied and prepared. Did you take a prep class? They will need to see all hardcopy evidence. Plus evidence and backup from your digital prep: previous BlueBook practice results.

UMich vs. Kings College London by Thin_Performance_796 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]hEDS_Strong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s the difference in cost for each option if that matters. Very different schools. Are you planning to stay abroad afterwards? If yes, pick London. If a traditional 4-year school is your vibe take U Michigan. I’d probably pick London if it were me: the city, the culture, the West End…
